The story felt incomplete as if Blake lost track of the characters. The main story needed to develop more. I read his books all the time and this wasn’t up to par for me.
The reader needs to learn what a period means. Her voice seemed to remain the same throughout.

I like Blake Pierce and how he writes but I do not like how Laura Bannister reads. Listening to her there never is a period. She doesn’t seem to be the ending.
