When is the next book coming out????
Revisado: 07-03-12
The book is really good and i know you will like it.
But since there are many more books in the series already out, i dont see the reason why we have to wait so long for the next books, it has been months. Audible really needs a way to update us on target dates for these books.
Since audible is owned by Amazon, I see no reason why they cant link audible books to the reviews to the books in Amazon. This would really help where there are few or no reviews here. It would also give us an idea about the number and order of the books in a series. I've mentioned this a couple years ago and there appears to be little action. I apologize to all of you expecting a book review, I just felt like venting a little to audible. hope they read these reviews.

Historia
New York Times best-selling author Eric Flint has received glowing critical praise for his Ring of Fire alternate history series. In this first installment, a West Virginia town is transported from the year 2000 to 1631 Germany at the height of the Thirty Years’ War. Thrust into conflict, the town residents must also contend with moral issues such as who should be considered a citizen.

Like an historical Novel with a twist
Revisado: 06-08-12
What really makes this book are the characters. They are well developed and you'll find yourself rooting for them as they go into action. Its really nice to see a community pull together and succeed. It is also interesting to see the influences of religions in that day: Kinda reminds me of the middle east.

The reason we listen to these books is to be entertained, taken to another place, or to help get thru boring tasks. If u like Sci-fi you should like this book. My only complaint is that Audible only has the first two books, ugh!

Historia
Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer. Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries....

$6.99 What a deal!!!!
Revisado: 10-27-11
I paid one of my credits, but it was worth it! Now it is an even better buy! I normally lean toward sci-fy but I have to say I really enjoyed the characters in this series. And Luke Daniels is the right narrator for this book. If you are looking for something different and fun then you will want to pick up this series.

Historia
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Excellent first contact story
Revisado: 03-09-11
Like the other reviews stated, I was very pleasantly surprised! The story was great, the narration was excellent, I ready liked the narrator's voices. Most of the story takes place on dead end, a world where humans are pretty much at the bottom of the food chain when unarmed. The story line is one where a few humans are searching for the secret ability of the top predator on the planet, who happens to be the top predator of the known galaxy. Overall, a very good audio book.

Great fantasy series
Revisado: 05-25-09
This review applies to the series (posted at book 3 also). Normally, I listen to sci-fi and decided to give this fantasy series a try because of the high ratings the books got at Amazon, and I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. The characters are excellent, the plot good, etc. The first book takes a little getting use to the new concept of furies and the author doesn't really try to explain how one gets these furies powers. (This probably explains some of the poor reviews on the 1st book) He does implied that it is genetic, but how many people in today's society really understand genetics? Who's ya daddy! The sixth book of this series is due out in November and I looking forward to it.
Kate Reading does one of the best jobs of narration in this series that I've heard anywhere! If you like a narration performance, you'll like this one. Lots of blood and guts, but very, very few 4-ltr words, if you don't count 'CROWs' - this series swear word.
Audible needs to cross-reference these audio books with the book reviews in Amazon, their parent company (I believe). This is especially true where there are few or no reviews on the book. Just a note about my high 5-star ratings - I usually only rate books that I really enjoy, hence high ratings in all my rating history.

Historia
Despite political foes, professional jealousies, and the scandal which drove her into exile, Capt. Honor Harrington has been offered a chance to reclaim her career as an officer of the Royal Manticoran Navy. But there's a catch. She must assume command of a "squadron" of jury-rigged armed merchantmen with crew drawn from the dregs of her service and somehow stop the pirates who have taken advantage of the Havenite War to plunder the Star Kingdom's commerce.

I like honorable heroes!
Revisado: 04-23-09
This series has been very enjoyable to listen too. These books are somewhat uplifting - I guess that's the fantasy part of a galactic war - but - The good guys are good and the bad guys are bad, however, they may or may not be enemies.
There is a couple improvements that Audible could make on most of these series of books - like the honor harrington series. First, I'd like to know what book in a series I'm buying without having to research the series, book 1,2,3, etc. You can't go by audible's release date, they tend to release some of the latest books first, look at "War of Honor" in this series. The easiest way I have found to identify the series order is to Google them. Googling the series brings up the author's comments in Amazon which usually will tell you the series order.
The following is the order of the Harrington series:
1) On Basilisk Station
2) The Honor of the Queen
3) The Short Victorious War
4) Field of Dishonour
5) Flag in Exile
6) Honor among Enemies
7) In Enemy Hands
8) Echoes of Honor
9) Ashes of Victory
10) War of Honor
11) At All Costs
12) Mission of Honor (forthcoming)
My second recommendation for improvements was to do with getting comments/reviews on the books in Audible. I believe that Amazon is the parent company to Audible, so why not have Audible reviews "hot link" to the Amazon reviews of the same book, especially where there are no reviews in Audible. This would eliminate someone from having to copy the title, going to Amazon and searching their books for reviews and comments. Sorry, for straying a little, but I hope it helps.
Just a note about my high 5-star ratings - I usually only rate books that I really enjoy, hence high ratings in all my rating history. Maybe I will change in the future, but since I have so many books, maybe not. JWP

I like honorable heroes!
Revisado: 02-25-09
This is one of my favorite series and I look forward to see how the fleet will get back home. I guess you could criticize some of the redundancies found throughout this series (such as the retelling of Black Jacks 100 years in the freezer, or the delays caused by the limits to the speed of light, etc.) but I guess if you didn't include them, readers of later books, who did not read earlier books would complain. I also enjoy the interplay between the main characters and the voices provided to them by the narrator. If you like honorable heroes (like I sometimes do) you will like these books, if not, you might not. Enjoy!
