I thought it was a joke...
Revisado: 02-13-21
I read a review that said the book used the word whores too much. I thought that's a dumb reason to dislike a book. Turns out it's not. I feel like I'm being beaten by that word. It's feels like every sentence. It's way too much. Frank Herbert had the Bene Gesserit call them Honored Matres because that was what they called themselves. Why can't these knuckleheads do that as well? Come on man!

Yeah, that's not how the the body problem works
Revisado: 12-22-20
This was a good book. I liked it overall. I cannot recommend it as the following books are terrible. The physics was puzzling. It would be more likely that you would eject the planet than set up a randomly repeating stable orbit. The three body problem applies to our solar system too. That's why you can't predict the orbits of small bodies out past a few decades in the inner solar system.

Historia
This near-future trilogy is the first chance for English-speaking listeners to experience this multiple-award-winning phenomenon from Cixin Liu, China's most beloved science fiction author. In The Dark Forest, Earth is reeling from the revelation of a coming alien invasion - in just four centuries' time. The aliens' human collaborators may have been defeated, but the presence of the sophons, the subatomic particles that allow Trisolaris instant access to all human information, means that Earth's defense plans are totally exposed to the enemy.

Mediocre with bits that are truly terrible
Revisado: 12-22-20
The love story in the middle ruined the book for me. It was so stupid and contrived that I felt it ruined an otherwise mediocre book.

Historia
Half a century after the Doomsday Battle, the uneasy balance of Dark Forest Deterrence keeps the Trisolaran invaders at bay. Earth enjoys unprecedented prosperity due to the infusion of Trisolaran knowledge. With human science advancing daily and the Trisolarans adopting Earth culture, it seems that the two civilizations will soon be able to coexist peacefully as equals, without the terrible threat of mutually assured annihilation. But the peace has also made humanity complacent.

Revisado: 12-22-20
I really liked the opening and the parable. His description of some of his "science" is some of the worst I've ever read. His "science" doesn't make any sense.

Revisado: 07-15-20
As with many sounds true productions this isn't a reading of a book, it's a performance. It really becomes clear when he rants about stopping the book to do the exercises. I don't need to hear that. I would prefer an actual audiobook presentation of the information with less ad-libbing.
The early parts are the same mindfulness stuff that has been popular for years. I really wanted to hear more about this philosophy of responsibility, but there is so much to get through. He does offer some interesting exercises later in the book.

Historia
The Illuminati, an inside joke? The lunatic fringe? Or a vast conspiracy hidden for centuries, unleashing it's power on a naive, defenseless world? It was the lousy luck of Saul Goodman, a tough, streetwise New York detective, to smell the trail in a bombed-out office - the heavy case he'd always dreaded. In a breakneck race against an awesome deadline, Goodman plunges down the trail of the ultimate conspiracy as the days fall away toward Apocalypse.

bad narration makes it unlistenable
Revisado: 03-27-19
The story is very interesting. I read this book years ago. I was really looking forward to it. The narrator gggrrrroooowwlllss everything out. I'm not even sure why. It almost feels like he's trying to be seductive. I don't know. what I do know is it's awful.
