Historia
In Legend, acclaimed best-selling author Eric Blehm takes as his canvas the Vietnam War as seen through a single mission that occurred on May 2, 1968. A 12-man Special Forces team had been covertly inserted into a small clearing in the jungles of neutral Cambodia - where US forces were forbidden to operate. Their objective, just miles over the Vietnam border, was to collect evidence that proved the North Vietnamese Army was using the Cambodian sanctuary as a major conduit for supplying troops and materiel to the south via the Ho Chi Minh Trail.

real heroes are hard to find...
Revisado: 11-07-22
this book is an incredible look at a man who didn't count the cost. the personal sacrifice of him and his family is something to appreciate. I think my favorite part was when they tried to put him in a body bag and he spit in the face of the medic to be sure they knew he was still alive.

struggled to finish
Revisado: 03-27-21
what happened in the book.... briefly snow monkeys, wolves, polar bears, lots of characters who die, global warming(sorta), ice, ice caves, ice tunnels, ice mountains, snow mobiles, fog, hidden entrances and exits, oh and red eyes.
What did I think of it without spilling the beans.
I am sure some will love it but I couldn't get into it. I had to keep rewinding. Because I would find an hour gone(the book isn't even very long) and I had no idea what was said. that happened numerous times. I finally gave up, and let it finish. the author had too many characters and stories happening at once. it helped as he killed them off, but then he added more (who he killed off as well). maybe he couldn't even keep up with them. he was trying to add global warming into it but that was even confusing. I am not completely sure what happened and I have no desire to even try. I wouldn't recommend this book. there are so many fantastically written books that this one doesn't need to take your time. if your like me. I am sure you will think it can't be that bad and listen anyway. if so I hope you will be one who enjoys it.

Historia
As the ash and chaos from Mount Rainier’s eruption swirled and finally settled, the story of the Greenloop massacre has passed unnoticed, unexamined...until now. The journals of resident Kate Holland, recovered from the town’s bloody wreckage, capture a tale too harrowing - and too earth-shattering in its implications - to be forgotten. In this audiobook, Max Brooks brings Kate’s extraordinary account to light for the first time, faithfully reproducing her words alongside his own extensive investigations into the massacre and the legendary beasts behind it.

book is mostly about the trip of a lifetime.
Revisado: 03-23-21
so much of this story is background the story of a trip. with a smaller part being about the bear attack. he vividly describes the experience of the "trip of a lifetime."
I would say that the sacrifices made for him to continue on with the group were immense. in many respects the team learned a lot about sacrifice and loyalty. they learned about working with someone in pain physically and mentally. it probably has helped them in life be more sensitive to people around them.

Historia
A missing child draws Deputy Daniel Clark into a bizarre investigation that leaves him questioning what he just witnessed. Trained to trust his instincts and to pay close attention to detail, his rational brain is at war with what he has seen. Something very strange is happening in rural Sloan County, Missouri. Nothing in his experience has prepared him for anything like this. More disappearances only make the mystery deepen as the Sheriff tries to cover up what’s really going on. Clark enlists the aid of other deputies who, like himself, have seen things that don’t make sense.

Needs refinement, good bones, but poor execution
Revisado: 03-23-21
this book is painful to listen to from the story to the narrator it leaves a lot to be desired. the amount of profanity and the painfully awkward sexual scenes were totally unnecessary and cheapened the story further(i skipped ahead through as many as possible). the story while over all is good it is just not refined. the narrator repeats himself at times like he temporarily lost his place. I think given time the narrator will do fine. I would hope given time the author will improve as well. I have never listened to any of his books(if he has written any which I don't know). I would say approach this book with a bit of patience. take it for what it is a good story if you are willing to wade through the negatives to get there. I would say he did well with the plot over all. there were times I was surprised by things that happened and usually I have it figured out quickly.

I enjoyed this book. Some of the spots seem a bit overdramatic. I think the narrator did a good job. I am amazed at the authors ability to write book after book and still continue releasing interesting content.
