It’s a good listen. Wil Wheaton is amazing and brings a lot to the narrative. I took off a star because Weir absolutely cannot write women. But I would recommend this as a smart, funny listen. Happy Reading!

I absolutely love MHC, but this book was hard to enjoy because the suspects were all very similar. When the culprit is revealed my thought was, which one was that? The Jesuit guy? The rich guy? The other rich guy? I feel like I would need a character bio sheet to actually enjoy the story to its fullest.

This is one of only a small handful of books in my life that I could not force myself to finish. I love the Nora Roberts's trilogies, but this one just never got off the ground. The "bad guy" is trite; the characters are two-dimensional, and the story-line is convoluted and forced. Hopefully the next trilogy of hers that I pick up has Roberts back at her best.

This book has helpful hints like: If your title is too big for the cover, you can make your title shorter or make the font size smaller; If your title blends in with the art, making it hard to read, change the color of the font; Your subtitle can be the same font or a different font.

Seriously? Every “tip” is so painfully obvious that you’ll find yourself groaning over and over again as you listen and saying things like “Really?! If I want my title centered and it’s not centered I should center it?!?”

Waste of money and time.

What made the experience of listening to Rock Your Plot the most enjoyable?

Listening to a writing coach like Cathy give clear, step-by-step instructions is exactly what I needed. Her method works wonders, especially when coupled with the downloads from her website. This is THE book to get through the "quick and dirty first draft," to use her words.

After that, you can read all the other books to streamline your dialogue, emphasize your theme, all that fancy stuff. But start here. Start with ROCK YOUR PLOT.
