Historia
It seems straightforward to Attorney Nate Shepherd: a middle-aged billionaire dies while celebrating at a wedding reception. The grief-stricken family lashes out, though, blaming the billionaire’s date for his death. When the family brings all of its power to bear, the wheels of local justice threaten to overwhelm the woman. As Nate Shepherd steps in to defend her, he tries to deflect the misplaced anger that’s directed at the woman for the tragedy. But as the investigation progresses, a tangled history unravels, including unexpected ties to Nate’s own life.

Historia
The feud between Weston Lockwood and me started at the altar. Only neither of us attended the wedding, and the nuptials happened decades before either of us was born. Our grandfathers had been best friends and business partners, at least up until my grandfather’s wedding day - when his bride-to-be blurted out she couldn’t marry him because she was also in love with Weston‘s grandfather.

Revisado: 07-17-21
This book is so different the all the other Baldacci books I've listened to. There were tears in my eyes through most of the book. So powerful particularly to someone who married his High School sweetheart so so many years ago. I'm an old man now and this book was so touching. Thank you!

I’m sorry
Revisado: 06-20-21
I’m sorry that other white people are so unknowing. If people wanted to all they would have to do is learn how to roll play and put themselves in the other side. One would hope that they would be smart enough to hear what they almost said and change.
I’m an old white guy and unfortunately there are a lot of stupid people.
I’m hopeful that the next generation will fix things.
This was a good book to listen to. There was no anger even though it was called for.

It was so obvious
Revisado: 10-20-20
This was a very difficult book for me to get through. Your president was exactly how he has been for many many years.
It is very obvious that he only cares about himself and he obviously not in tune with anyone else. He is the typical “I got mine and fuck everyone else “. He has zero idea that anyone else could see things differently
He is a sad individual! His upbringing had to be so misguided. Shame on his parents.
