Historia
An AI calling itself Schema has assimilated Earth into its System. As a consequence, everyone gained access to status screens, power-ups, and skills. This AI turned these concepts from fiction to fact. It's easy to become intoxicated with leveling up and becoming stronger. To some, it's too good to be true, like living out a dream. For Daniel, however, it's closer to a nightmare.

I'm really trying to like this
Revisado: 08-07-23
I am really into litrpg and the system style progression stories. I have been listening to them for years, and generally, I have the ones I like and ones I like less. this one is the second litrpg story that I just can't finish. The system is confusing, the character is bland, and the plot is either going so fast you can't figure out what's going on or so slow you just want to skip the next few minutes of training montages. Worse, there seems to be an extreme lack of emotional engagement. everything feels so wooden and soulless, maybe that's the word choice... not sure.
the narrator.... I can't really tell if he's a bad narrator or just working with bad content. He has a decent repertoire of voices, but the cadence feels rushed at times and to slow at others. I'll hold my overall opinion on him. I don't think I will read book two of this series.
to the author.... get some editors and think of how real people think and feel and convey that to us.

Historia
After curing the Corruption plague in Fiend territory, Rob, Riardin's Rangers, and the Deserters have settled into their new home. It's given them the stability they've been striving for ever since being forced to flee The Village so many months ago. Unfortunately, their well-earned rest is cut short when a Dwarven messenger arrives, begging for assistance. The Blight has returned. And without Rob's help, Dwarven territory will fall.

great story and world, but some weird choices
Revisado: 07-28-23
the story and world are fantastic and I have really bought into these characters, but I have to say... there are some really strange moments and story decisions.... like seriously a god sending tech to their followers totally not in keeping with the setting? and why are the gods so totally inept? I hope the story leads to answers that make sense.
keep it up with the story and the character development, I am looking forward to the future of this series. also, the narrator does a fabulous job.

Historia
It hasn't been easy for Jason ever since his best friend vanished, sacrificing himself to prevent Jason from being dragged into an otherworldly portal. The world didn't seem to care like it should, and just as he was getting back on his feet, bizarre monsters from other worlds began to invade, terrorizing Earth. A lesser man would have wanted to run away from it all. Jason picked up a sword and started beating the hell out of things.

great story, wish it was longer
Revisado: 04-21-23
fast paced action, emotion, and more outcast from another world shenanigans. I loved every moment of it. the only negative thing I have to say is I wish there was more.

Dungeons suddnly popped up across the planet, summoning invaders and monsters from alternate realities. Ancient gods slumbering beneath the Earth were woken. And all humans were empowered with Levels and Classes gained by, among other things, killing monsters and other humans.

ouch to my ears
Revisado: 03-23-23
I am a few chapters in and man that voice actor is terrible. every new character gets their own unique, more cringe voice. I don't know if I can make it through 18 more hours of this.
The mc seems to just be a collection of over used tropes (wow another hero who can't come up with an original name... how unique). the side characters are just as bad: a lazy sarcastic cat and a moronic centipede.
the story does show some promise, I'm going to try to work through another hour of that awful narration and see what I end up with.
author: please quality check your narrator, those accents are awful and insulting to true voice acting talent.

Ilea likes punching things. And eating. Unfortunately, there aren’t too many career options for hungry brawlers. Instead, the plan is to quit her crappy fast-food job, go to college, and become a fully functioning member of society. Essentially—a fate worse than death.

progression is off
Revisado: 03-22-23
The mc felt like she was written by a man. I am all about female power and feminism, but framing your mc like a man's man to off set the feminity detracts from the overall point of using a female lead to begin with.
I really didn't like how the first portion of the book painted leveling and skilling up as this hard thing that takes years upon years, and I'm fine with jumping in with the "special class" that gives the leg up, but after that it's constant leveling up with literally no reason given. we are talking 100s of levels when apparently a level 80 guard is the seasoned veteran of a sizable town. That makes zero sense in the context of the universe. especially when one of the characters comment that a level 200 person is the 5 in 1000 exception... she's like what...19 by the end of this book?
The battle was well written, I could envision the battles and they were pretty epic. I didn't feel much character development there, but there was some which I appreciated. the story flow and pacing was good, I never felt a reason to stop listening. I liked some of the characters and disliked others which is another point in the stories favor.
another issue is the power context seems all over the place. sometimes the mc is healing something ridiculous in second and other times she can't seem to heal fast enough to take care of a minor injury.
all in all, decent enough story. I'll probably pick up the next one when it comes out.

Historia
“Don’t trust their lies. Don’t trust their false peace.” That is the warning that Alanik of the planet ReDawn gave the human pilot Spensa after Alanik’s ship crash-landed on Detritus. While accepting an invitation to meet with her people’s enemy, the Galactic Superiority, Alanik heard Spensa’s cry for help across the vastness of space, and she used her cytonic powers to hyperjump her ship to the source of that cry. What she found there was a shock - a whole planet of free humans fighting against the Superiority. Were they the allies her people desperately needed?

This is a great story and really helps flush out the universe. As always Suzy Jackson did a great job in narration.
