Peacetime can be a rough adjustment for the battle-hardened Merry Band of Pirates.
Especially when aliens don’t get the memo that the shooting is over.

I don’t know how I got this far in the series’s, actually I do I drive a lot. Here is what I like, the story advances and it’s more of the same. What I don’t like there are only two charters I care about bishop and skippy everyone else can die. All the female characters are interchangeable and I don’t really care about any of them. The characters don’t have their own personalities Joe is a goof, Adams is a girl, skippy is a beer can, and all the other human characters are just background. These are fun books when your driving and zone in and out. If you zone out for 15 min and then zone back in you don’t really have to go back. I know this review sounds negative, but I did really enjoy this book. I have a stressful job and it is nice to just listen to a book that is a little silly, with interesting plot, and with villains that I want dead. This is very much a comfort book for me. My recommendation with this series is once you finish one book, go to another book or two then come back and the series won’t seem so repetitive. Thanks Craig and RC for letting me escape for a bit.

A definitive, deeply moving narrative, Bonhoeffer is a story of moral courage in the face of the monstrous evil that was Nazism. After discovering the fire of true faith in a Harlem church, Bonhoeffer returned to Germany and became one of the first to speak out against Hitler. As a double agent, he joined the plot to assassinate the Führer and was hanged in Flossenbürg concentration camp at age thirty-nine. Since his death, Bonhoeffer has grown to be one of the most fascinating, complex figures of the twentieth century.

Took me a few years on and off to finish.

It's more than a tale of one person. It's like reading a time capsule of the pre WW2 church.

It's America in 1962. Slavery is legal once again. The few Jews who still survive hide under assumed names. In San Francisco, the I Ching is as common as the Yellow Pages. All because some twenty years earlier the United States lost a war - and is now occupied by Nazi Germany and Japan.

Hard to follow story.

I enjoyed the TV series and I hoped to find a high drama mystery. Really cool premise, but feels like a setup for another book that never comes. I kept waiting for the story to move on and to get more clues and you get very little. Disclaimer, I listen to books as I am walking my dog and working out so sometimes I miss key concepts. The narration was good. Overall if you like the TV series, I would pass on the book. The TV series takes the premise of the book, a few of the characters, and adapts the story for current commerical audience. This book explores a different world and plays with the forth wall in a subtle way has some interesting moments but feels incomplete.

You find yourself loving hook and hating pan.
Revisado: 12-28-18
The narrator makes this book so much better. It reads like an old classic without it being written in an older English. Good dialect use to give the story depth. Hook comes off as reasonable. When you listen to this book as an adult you side with hook and you realize what an as Pan is. It's a good retelling with out it being the same story.
