This book isnt even worth it for free!
Revisado: 08-02-21
This is the dumbest story ever told. I cant believe this was even published. The story line was weak from the start.....and only gets worse as it goes.
If you want a story that is a complete let down at every turn, with weak, undeveloped characters throughout, then buy this book.
This seriously the worst book ever.

weak plot. three times as much vulgarity as the last books in the series, and the humor was stale and boring. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone.

Historia
It's 1998, and for years the old First Bank of Cleveland has sat abandoned, perfectly preserved, its secrets only speculated on by the outside world. Twenty years before, amid strange staff disappearances and allegations of fraud, panicked investors sold Cleveland's largest bank in the middle of the night, locking out customers and employees and thwarting a looming federal investigation. In the confusion that followed, the keys to the vault's safe-deposit boxes were lost.

Humans expanded into space...only to find a universe populated with multiple alien species bent on their destruction. Thus was the Colonial Union formed, to help protect us from a hostile universe. The Colonial Union used the Earth and its excess population for colonists and soldiers. It was a good arrangement...for the Colonial Union. Then the Earth said: no more.

This is why people pirate books from the internet.
Revisado: 08-25-15
This book does not live up to the standards that the previous books in this series set for it. This book should have been half the price I paid for it considering the author only put a half ass effort into the story.
This book is mostly character driven with very little action. The dialogue was weak and felt pushed to move the story along.
The reader change 1/3 of the way into the book just makes no sense what so ever and completely destroys well developed characters in the story. Very poor job from the reader who made every character sound like a scared school girl. At least the new could have done was research the previous books in the series to get a feel for the characters. Cant say enough about poor the reading was.
The ending of this series was the biggest let down of all. Abrupt, extremely weak, and hugely boring.
I can say without guilt that I wont be buying my next Scalzi book.

Historia
Zack Lightman has never much cared for reality. He vastly prefers the countless science-fiction movies, books, and videogames he's spent his life consuming. And too often, he catches himself wishing that some fantastic, impossible, world-altering event could arrive to whisk him off on a grand spacefaring adventure.

I want a refund!
Revisado: 07-21-15
I loved Ready Player One, but I couldn't even finish this trash. I won't be taking a chance on anything from this author ever again.
The characters are generic and boring because they never had time to develop before they were thrust into the "action", and the story was so predictable that it took all the fun out of it.
The war itself was a joke. I don't want to spoil it for others so I can't speak directly about it, but this author needs to do some research on military tactics and simple strategy. That part of this book was the worst in my opinion.

weak story line in my opinion. didn't care even a little about any of the characters. was bored to tears 90% of the time I listened to this. what little action there was in this book was barely action at all. mostly just characters talking endlessly.
this story just isn't my idea of good sci-fi.

Much better than the Mistborn trilogy!
Revisado: 12-01-11
I enjoyed the original Mistborn trilogy well enough but quickly got board with the alomancy parts. Every action sequence felt like it could have been cut and pasted from the previous action sequence. Got to be as exciting as watching a chess match.
This story is nothing like that and the alomancy action is very good and exciting. The only thing that upset me about this story is that it was too short. I'm looking forward to the next installment of this story very much!
Excellent narration as well.
