Another Winner

Ms Travers does not disappoint with this second volume devoted to Maud, Daisy and the mysterious Lord Arteck. The cast of supporting characters and the necessary villain comprise a fun assortment of Scottish turn of the century prejudices. discovery of modern improvements to free women from household drudgeries and the vagaries of the younger generation to break away from their parents.

An Eoxciting Romp

I chose this novel because it looked like a fun cosy mystery! I have COVID and I sought a diversion, for sure, bur much, more.. In the tradition of J. Winstear et al., Maud and Daisy are very smart, inventive and modern as they solve a trio of interrelated cases, while still remaining utterly feminine. A great read!

An amateur detective who does not know everything, and his cat who does

Charlie really thought he was very smart. He was smart, but not smart. I liked when he was not always correct about who the murderer was. He was humble and contrite often. Very human! He also loved Diesel, his big Main Coon cat, as I loved my big Maine Coon, Cagney.

HISTORY TEACHES US THE STORY OF CIVILIZATION

I love History: Egyptian, Greece, Rome and the years of Alezander the Great.I don"/ care for the Middle Ages because Church kept common people illiterate andbound as serfs and warrior nobles.
This novel is replete with interesting fact and flights of fancy. Though long, I enjoyed every word and story

The best book so far in the series.

These are real problems that affect the lives of each character in the book. 0ne gets a real appreciation for Botswana and for the philosophical underpinings of the people. The book is full of kindness and practical common sense. Above all the author wants to show respect for the country. Considering the problems we face in the US today nI would like to recommend this book to our politicians and our citizens. THANK YOU MR. MCCALL-SMITH!
