The main is relatable, and you are rooting for him from the opener. The premise of rift delving is fun, as is The Path. Overall a great start to a promising series

While I enjoyed this book overall it felt incomplete. The recently revealed Minkalla is fun and all but it doesn't need 2 full books. Yes, you read correctly, the Minkalla visit does not finish in book 6.

First, the bad. This book consists only of Minkalla, again. There are even 4 or more "alternative histories" for each character in the party for one of the challenges. That should have been an abbreviated montage scene of less than 1 chapter. Worse, this book doubles or triples the alternative character perspectives. Who the heck cares? Stop wasting time and get on with the plot.

On the plus side the power arc is fun. Some of the combat scenes were epic! Especially loved the flight against the autumn general.

Overall the series has potential if the author can stop stalling

Another reset book. if previous titles could be described as "the main character gets sick and then gets better" this book is the inverse. "The main character is healed and then reinjured."

We finally see our main achieving a goal only to throw everything away again. Why? Even the combat is lackluster. Very little descriptive prose, mostly just titles we're supposed to remember. Then everything earned this book and all that came before just burns up. Nobody wants this kind of momentum flailing do they?

I give up on this series.

The summary: OP Main goes to a new city and talks to some people.

The author has been foreshadowing a system conflict for a few books now. The charm of discovery is over. The last two novels have been just a waste of words

I wish I had stopped reading this series at book 1 but it kept showing signs of life. This book isn't different. For every awesome part there are two that just suck.

First we have our "witty" main who is supposed to be quick on the uptake but never sees anything coming and responds with such gems as "wait what" 5 times, or the ever original "what the what." If you can't tell, that's sarcasm. You probably heard me rolling my eyes all the way from here.

Then we just have to end on yet another predictable, boring, "cliffhanger." Come on, this trick is bad enough once in a series, but this is what, every other book? People are going to read it or they aren't.

I'm out.

These books are so hit or miss and sometimes so absurdly repetitive that I wonder if they're actually generative AI creations. While the previous book at least resolved a few plot points, Arcoplex is basically just the epilogue. Very little of note advances and even the character generation is once again reset to zero. I give it a solid meh

In this book zero plots are advanced, no issues are resolved, absolutely everything overcome is also set up in this novel. Transition books to reset world are sometimes useful but this was a stinker even grading by a curve
