A beautiful tribute!
Revisado: 01-31-25
I had a Mohammad moment I will never forget. He was a gentle soul. I was getting off our show bus one winter evening in Colorado when a limo pulled up. He got out in a wearing a fine wool top coat and respectfully in a soft voice asked to see the bus. “You bet Champ!”

Vito didn’t die alone.
Revisado: 08-29-24
What a thrill to have. Di Niro, Duvall, Caan, others and Coppolla himself to talk so candidly about the films. I feel the major allegorical theme of the films is contrasted in the deaths of Vito and Micheal. Vito didn’t die alone (as was said) he died playing with his grandson in the garden. Micheal died alone having lost his family as part of his own dark fate.

Historia
For two thousand years, cadavers have been involved in science's boldest strides and weirdest undertakings. They've tested France's first guillotines, ridden the NASA Space Shuttle, been crucified in a Parisian laboratory to test the authenticity of the Shroud of Turin, and helped solve the mystery of TWA Flight 800. For every new surgical procedure, from heart transplants to gender reassignment surgery, cadavers have been there alongside surgeons, making history in their quiet way.

The funniest book about mortality out there!
Revisado: 06-10-24
Mary Roach had me at “shovel and sack”, describing the profitable side gig of grave robbing. Mary is the one who asks the questions we are afraid to ask concerning the carcass we all pocess. If you have a strong stomach and are a fan of great writing, please listen to this one while sipping a nice Chianti.

Historia
Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, Tara Westover was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom. Her family was so isolated from mainstream society that there was no one to ensure the children received an education, and no one to intervene when one of Tara’s older brothers became violent. When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University.

This book was recommended but turned out to be a never-ending ordeal of cruelty. It was upsetting throughout and was partially resolved in the end.

Historia
The Most Human Human is a provocative, exuberant, and profound exploration of the ways in which computers are reshaping our ideas of what it means to be human. Its starting point is the annual Turing Test, which pits artificial intelligence programs against people to determine if computers can “think.” Named for computer pioneer Alan Turing, the Turing Test convenes a panel of judges who pose questions—ranging anywhere from celebrity gossip to moral conundrums—to hidden contestants in an attempt to discern which is human and which is a computer.

Are you a robot? No!
Revisado: 01-20-24
This is a remarkable book that centers around a short game/conversation between us (humans) and them (our computer creations). But more than that it explores language, philosophy, poetry, art and the very nature of creativity and our wild unpredictability as humans that makes us irreplaceable. One of my very favorites. Read and be encouraged to be the undefinable being you are.

Historia
Rasputin separates fact from fiction to reveal the real life of one of history's most alluring figures. Drawing on a wealth of forgotten documents from archives in seven countries, Smith presents Rasputin in all his complexity - man of God, voice of peace, loyal subject, adulterer, drunkard. Rasputin is not just a definitive biography of an extraordinary and legendary man, but a fascinating portrait of the twilight of imperial Russia as it lurched toward catastrophe.
