Having just celebrated her 26th birthday in 1976 California, Dana, an African-American woman, is suddenly and inexplicably wrenched through time into antebellum Maryland. This story was very interesting. The reader feels what it would be like to live in the early 1800s on a slavery plantation.

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

I didn’t know what to expect with this book -
The story was intriguing from the start, with just enough characters and plots to keep it interesting without making the plot confusing,
I had no idea how it would end…until the end!!
The performance was five star excellent!!!

Historia
Authors June Hayward and Athena Liu were supposed to be twin rising stars: same year at Yale, same debut year in publishing. But Athena’s a cross-genre literary darling, and June didn’t even get a paperback release. Nobody wants stories about basic white girls, June thinks. So when June witnesses Athena’s death in a freak accident, she acts on impulse: she steals Athena’s just-finished masterpiece, an experimental novel about the unsung contributions of Chinese laborers to the British and French war efforts during World War I.

The performance was excellent!
The story topic was horrible.
I can think of ways to spin this story to make it more positive - which makes me wonder if this is what our society wants, expects, emulates-
I was very disappointed-

First disappointment from this professor
Revisado: 02-20-23
I have listened to every audiobook professor Armstrong has released and truly respect her expertise and presentation.
This release was a disappointment because there was minimal new material, but more importantly, rather than comparing and contrasting past to present as a learning opportunity, professor Armstrong chastised our societal failures (correctly), which I think will push away some of her audience.
I appreciate all her work, but preaching about the failure of societies during Covid-19 is too close for comfort and I fear will disengage her audience.
Sorry you took this roughy professor Armstrong

Historia
The 10 enlightening (and often humorous) lectures of Medieval Myths and Mysteries will show you how far from the “dark” times of legend these centuries were. Uncover the facts about the Knights Templar. Reveal the truth behind the tales of legendary creatures like the Questing Beast and the unicorn. Trace the events of the Black Death and the ways it altered the world in its wake, and much more. With Professor Armstrong, you will dig deep into the ways that later generations reshaped the narrative of the medieval years and perpetuated the myths.

Major Garrett and David Becker completely upend The Big Lie that has infected the Far Right with firsthand stories of election officials like Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and Bucks County, Pennsylvania, election director Thomas Freitag. And they reveal the concrete evidence proving that 2020 may have been the most secure US election ever. Narration awful; content remarkable

The important content of this story is overshadowed by the difficulty listening to narration that speeds up, slows down, sounds digital, and at times even sounds normal.

Daniel Graham MacCormick - Mac for short - seems to have a pretty good life. At age 35 he's living in Key West, owner of a 42-foot charter fishing boat, The Maine. Mac served five years in the army as an infantry officer, with two tours in Afghanistan. He returned with the Silver Star, two Purple Hearts, scars that don't tan, and a boat with a big bank loan. Eating is an indispensable human activity. As a result, whether we realize it or not, the drive to obtain food has been a major catalyst across all of history, from prehistoric times to the present. Epicure Jean-Anthelme Brillat-Savarin said it best: "Gastronomy governs the whole life of man."
