DEFINITELY NOT A FAN!
Revisado: 05-11-24
I'm really not someone who has the stature to complain about the writings of such an award-winning author.. I have never accomplished anything such as a novel let alone being an award-winning novel.. more will I ever has comprehensive over and over again year after year for the last 30 years.. having said that, I have listened to every single one of these books in the book series in order immediately as they come out, some of them I've listened to more than two or three times.. this book in my eyes does not standards of this book series nor does it meet the standards of the offer.. to me this book was thoroughly unentertaining, slow, and in general a complete bore! I'm not going to get into any details because I don't want to spoil anybody's future reading or listening enjoyment, usually no two people see the same story the same way or enjoy or dislike the same story in the same way as someone else so I will leave it up to you, especially if you have read all the other books in the book series, to listen to this book or read this book on your own and come up with your own judgment.. all I have to say is I usually listen to the books in this book series immediately upon their release and have the entire book listen to in one day, if not two today is May 11th 2024, I received this audiobook immediately upon its release, and it has taken me this long to get through the whole book.. and I guarantee you I will never listen to it again! technically this book should be a one star rating from me, but due to my other respect for the author, I gave the book a second star.. I know that the book itself was not entertaining it was an extremely slow to me.. but the narration of this book added to my disappointment.. why in God's green earth would you switch up the narration away from Jenny Sterling.. she is the voice of Mary Russell, I could not get past the lack of Jenny Sterling in this audiobook also.. needless to say, I am thoroughly disappointed in this book I was thoroughly disappointed in its narration and I am thoroughly disappointed in the author.. you will see throughout the book that the story line, beers away from it's two main characters a lot, and I am not here, listening to these books to hear story about someone other than Sherlock Holmes and Mary russell, and the complete and utter lack of detection work in this novel sickens me! get back to writing Sherlock Holmes and Mary Russell tails of private investigation and drama and murder and plot twists! I'm not going to proof read this, it was way too long, but there it is.. like I said before I'm not an offer.. and due to the respect of the author, I want anybody reading this review to understand and know that I was extremely kind to the author

Sherlock Holmes is dead--or so most of the world thinks. His fatal plunge over the Reichenbach Falls as he struggled with his archenemy, Moriarty, has been widely reported. But Holmes has escaped and is alive. In his immediate circle, only Holmes's brother, the lethargic genius Mycroft, knows of his survival. Even Dr. Watson thinks that the great detective is dead. Among his enemies, Sebastian Moran, Moriarty's chief henchman, knows of Holmes's probable escape and waits for their inevitable meeting.

2-3 out of 5 stars
Revisado: 04-04-23
giving this podcast two out of three stars because the podcast is actually speaking about very important riveting topics, and you can tell that the narrators have done their homework, if I were grading their papers as a teacher I'd give them a b or a B+.. the definitely not a student's, but they did the work.. having said that, not everybody should have their own podcast, and these two narrators are horrible! especially the boyfriend! when there are two narrators, they're supposed to feed off of one another, bounce The Narrative back and forth to each other, and every time the female narrator bounces the topic to the boyfriend, half the time there is dead air, the other half the time he has no idea what to say and when he does open his mouth it sounds like he has no idea what his girlfriend is talking about.. almost like he just walked into the room and had no idea that she was doing a podcast or knows nothing about the topic of what she's talking about if you want to understand what I'm talking about, listen to their first couple of episodes.. then go listen to Ashley flowers and Britt on crime Junkie.. or Dan and Lindsey Cummings on scared to death.. or even Kendall Rae... I listen to Kendall Ray once in awhile but she usually reports on true crime stories that most people have already reported on.. and I have no idea what her boyfriend or husband's name is but he also narrates with her.. the long and short of it, there's a lot of True Crime podcasts out there, this is not one I would choose if you're looking for a story to be told in depth correctly and with the seriousness that it deserves instead of goofing around with stories of people's murders rapes sexual misconduct and missing people

love Stephen Fry
Revisado: 04-04-23
the only reason I gave this podcast even three out of five stars was because of the narrator.. As for the podcast and the story itself, it was the most boring podcast I've ever listened to.. I made it about 3/4 of the way through the first episode and had to find something else to listen to because of how boring it was.. I went into this skeptical because I thought it was going to be boring before I even tried it however, I gave it a go because of all the five star reviews.. needless to say ( although I'm going to say it anyways) my skeptical view was dead on.. all I can say for this podcast is I feel sorry for Stephen Fry that he had to narrate such boring stories

Historia
What if you could travel back in time 100 years and right the wrongs of the past—would you take the risk? “Sundown: A Time Travel Society Mystery” is a wildly imaginative podcast from Michael Dante DiMartino, the co-creator of the animated classics “Avatar: The Last Airbender” and “The Legend of Korra.” “Sundown” explores the story of a group of teens who go back into the past and uncover secrets about themselves, their families, their town—and America. 17-year-old Darius Hightower (played by Emmy-nominated actor Asante Blackk of “When They See Us”) is just about the only Black person in his small New England town of Norhaven. Adopted by a wealthy white family when he was a baby, Darius has learned to keep his head down and not challenge his family or its history. But when the outspoken Sanaa Starr (played by NAACP Image Award-winner Storm Reid of “Euphoria”) transfers to his high school and starts asking questions, Darius re-examines the truth about his ancestors’ involvement in the town’s most infamous murder. A time capsule from 1920 may hold some clues, but when Norhaven’s most powerful conspire to destroy its contents, it’s up to Darius, Sanaa, and their friends (including “Reservation Dogs” star Devery Jacobs) to investigate what really happened. After a strange incident sends them back 100 years to the scene of the crime, their fact-finding mission becomes life-or-death. Forced to confront their town’s prejudiced past, the teens race against time in order save an innocent man’s life and clear his name. “Sundown” is a sci-fi mystery adventure like you’ve never heard before.

Horrible acting and narration
Revisado: 03-29-23
this book is way too PC and it seems like, because of the narration, everybody in the entire audiobook is mad all the time, nobody talks nice to one another without a smart alec remark or biting somebody's head off.. it's very annoying and the acting by the narrators is absolutely horrible.. the story itself could be really good if they had gotten better actors to begin with but because of the acting in the narration, it's pretty hard to listen to this book without getting frustrated and just wanted to listen to something else

I started reading these novels because quite honestly, I've read pretty much every Sherlock Holmes book and story out there by almost every author.. and these novels are advertised as being someone who is as good as Sherlock Holmes but comes about solving cases in a different manner.. so I gave it a shot, I think this is novel three or four maybe even five of the series and I just can't fight it any longer.. these books are not as good as Sherlock holmes, and to put it plainly, the main character is a bumbling idiot who is an extremely fat disgusting slob and quite honestly deserves everything that has ever gone wrong in his life! I feel absolutely no pity for this man, and I know I'm supposed to, if anything the people that I feel sorry for all the ones that are in his universe, this man is nothing but a complete lazy slob and I can't believe, but even his holier than thou sister, stays in his life! I'm literally becoming sick to my stomach listening to these novels, nobody could have ever made it as long as this man has without dying of diabetes or just plain laziness.. and we're supposed to believe this guy is as good as Sherlock Holmes? I tried, I just can't do it anymore, I'm going to move on to something else!
BTW... I didn't make it all the way through this novel, I have no idea how it ends, right now I'm about halfway through it and I literally cannot listen to anymore.. I'm having to twist my own arm to try to get through this novel, and I won't do it anymore
