Nicholas Briggs and Camille Coduri are the readers of these three original novels featuring the Ninth Doctor and Rose, as played on TV by Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper. Join the Doctor and Rose on these journeys in Time and Space as they encounter faceless killers in 1920s London, get trapped in an alien prison camp and discover something very sinister behind the latest video game craze. Great Value Doctor Who
Revisado: 11-08-24
A very good buy for Doctor Who fans. These collections are always well worth a credit. Short summaries on my opinions of the stories. I’ll try to stay spoiler free as much as possible and keep to things that happen early on.
-The Clockwise Man - (7/10) Solid story about robots. The presentation of this is very, very Russel T Davies era, which makes it feel like it could have been an episode of the era.
-The Monsters Inside - (7.5/10) I felt like this was the best of the bunch. Bizarre concepts of how a space prison could be run. The Slitheen are the big bads here and I think that they are well used. The Slitheen are interesting, dangerous enemies (except for the farting) and I like them here. There’s also a cute slime monster who is chummy with the Doctor (cute as in nice and harmless, bot cute as in a sidekick)
-Winner Takes All - (2/10) Evil hedgehogs use a video game to recruit soldiers in an unending war. This idea was used in Sarah Jane Smith Adventures and I liked it better there. I really didn’t like this one. It’s extremely mean-spirited and pretty much every new character is just the worst. There’s so much anger and contempt in this one and not in an entertaining way. The giant hedgehogs aren’t interesting or funny. If you are expecting Beep the Meep, you’ll have to search elsewhere. I can take dark in Doctor Who (there are some very, very dark stories), but those stories are usually artistically valid. This is just unpleasant and directionless.
Even with the dud of Winner Takes all, the other two still make this a great value. And, of course, other people did enjoy the story that I hated, and you may, too. My opinion isn’t any more valid than anyone else’s.
Have a good one!

The Doctor arrives at Sunlight 349, suspicious of any world where the Daleks are apparently a force for good - and determined to find out the truth. The Doctor knows they have a far more sinister plan - but how can he convince those who have lived under the benevolence of the Daleks for a generation? But convince them he must, and soon.

Good Dalek Story, but a Bit Safe
Revisado: 11-08-24
I’d like to start by saying that Nicholas Briggs is very good reader and writer. The cold opening to this story is particularly unnerving and mysterious. The Daleks are playing nice and setting up a perfect planet for humans to live on, but why?
The descriptions of the Dalek death-rays are particularly well-done and disturbing.
Without getting into spoilers, there are a lot of crazy ideas, but with little pay off. The reason that the Daleks are being nice is pretty underwhelming. I was expecting something truly wicked, but it’s just standard evil stuff.
Still, the performance is very good. Nicholas Briggs is very good at leading tension into the readings (which he also wrote). Notably, Briggs is the voice of the revival series Daleks (Eccleston and forward), so that’s fun.
Overall, worth a listen, for sure. It’s a fun romp, but nothing special. Even standard Doctor Who is still good stuff.

An Honest, Insightful Look Back at an Iconic Actor and Character
Revisado: 11-08-24
Leonard Nimoy writes a well-thought memoir of his career, especially as it pertains to Star Trek and his iconic, unforgettable character of Mister Spock. He writes sections where the character of Spock speaks directly to him and covers his complex relationship with the character. A great listen to any Star Trek fan.
Also, the great, late Nimoy reads it in his magnificent voice, which is a huge bonus. He will be missed, but also remembered.

Historia
In his first-ever Doctor Who novel, Tom Baker’s incredible imagination is given free rein. A story so epic it was originally intended for the big screen, Scratchman is a gripping, white-knuckle thriller almost 40 years in the making. The Doctor, Harry and Sarah Jane Smith arrive at a remote Scottish island when their holiday is cut short by the appearance of strange creatures - hideous scarecrows who are preying on the local population. The islanders are living in fear, and the Doctor vows to save them all.

Tom Baker is Great, as Always
Revisado: 07-31-24
This is a fantastic audio book read by Tom Baker about the Devil fighting the Doctor. The first half is spooky while the second half is really strange and quirky. Also littered throughout is a ton of really nice character moments with Sarah Jane, Harry Sullivan and the Doctor.
Excellent.

Historia
This book is part memoir, history, exploration, and critique of the Jehovah's Witness religion. I was born and raised as a Jehovah's Witness. Eventually, I found myself shunned due to actions considered unacceptable by the leaders of the religion at the time. I lost everything except the shirt on my back and the shoes on my feet. I faced a series of personal setbacks as a result of being cut off from childhood friends and family.

Owen Morgan delivers an honest, fair critique
Revisado: 05-16-24
I’ve been listening to Owen Morgan’s Youtube channel for a while now and I find his even, honest way of speaking and handling subjects to be both informative and easy to listen to. Here, he provides an introductory history of Jehovah’s witnesses and challenges their doctrine without resorting to exaggeration or insults. He provides his own experience as much as he can and his story can be pretty harrowing at times. I knew I would get this book when he announced it, but I wanted it in audio form, because I like hearing his voice and I like to do other tasks like cleaning while listening to audio books.
I hope to hear more from him in the future.

But when the gorgeous queen of a newly conquered tribe warns Azlato that she won't stand for her people to be used like this, he mocks and ignores her. Sexist jerk barbarian swapped with a love slave
Revisado: 08-10-23
This is a great genderswap story with lots of steamy scenes. The story starts with the main character of Azalato (not sure if I spelt that correctly) being a total villain and jerk. He is body swapped with a woman he was going to make be a pleasure maiden for his camp, so now he has to do that instead!
As a fair warning, Azalato is a sexist douchebag, but he gets better as time goes on as he becomes more sensitive. Some fairly good character development here. It should be noted that he talks about how weak he is as a woman a lot.
Naughty themes include: Sexual servitude, BDSM, lesbian, bisexual (MFF), sexuality change (Azalato goes from ultra hetero mape to bisexual woman), groping, multiple men and others I can’t remember specifically.
Of the 24 chapters, I think about 3 don’t have naughty scenes, but they are still good. The story is interesting enough. This is a servitude and humiliation to romance story. Not the same people involved (spoilers: Modan is best boy. What an absolute chad.)
