Historia
Matt Thorsen knows every Norse myth, saga, and god as if it was family history - because it is family history. Most people in the modern-day town of Blackwell, South Dakota, in fact, are direct descendants of either Thor or Loki, including Matt's classmates Fen and Laurie. When the rune readers reveal that the monsters of Ragnarok are coming and kids will stand in for the gods in the final battle, Matt can hardly believe it. Matt and his friends must race to put together an unstoppable team to prevent the end of the world.

Unexpected treasure of love and sacrafice
Revisado: 02-21-24
I confess to being skeptical this story could bring anything new to this classic tale, but this fast became my favorite telling ever. The choice of scene and perspective to describe the inner thoughts and experiences brought a lot of depth and passion to the read. I kept getting choked up at how real the experiences felt to life - falling in love, sacraficing for those you love, the complexities of family... it was phenomenal. It's a feel-good story that felt tangible and authentic.

Not a novel of the whole movie! Very disappointed
Revisado: 07-21-22
Considering the length of the book, I expected this to be a novel of the entire movie. Instead, it's maybe half.

Intriguing story, somewhat predictable
Revisado: 08-25-21
The story jumps chapter-to-chapter from the past to the present. I found I enjoyed the slow reveal of how the MC has developed. Although there were surprises, I found myself easily predicting a handful of twists. More bothersome was the repetitive language that was employed to jump back and forth: "...it would be years before..." "...but for now..." etc. All in all, I found myself empathizing with characters in unexpected ways, gut-wrenched by the end, and smirking with the final close. Through the characters, the story explores what love is, the value of freedom, and the power of persistence.
