Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Beautiful and Compelling
Revisado: 09-17-23
I love most of Stephen King's works, but Fairytale is truly something special to read. It speaks to my inner adventurer. He's made a fantastical world seem to relatable and heartbreaking.

Overall a lackluster and rushed ending
Revisado: 06-09-22
The build up of the story was fantastic but it felt as if the author didn't know how to proceed after a while and ended it.

Odd pronunciations
Revisado: 07-25-21
I adore that story....not a big fan of how the VA pronounces some words. He says the word bade as bad, lake as lack. I never knew how much R.A. Salvatore used the word bade until the VA mispronounced it every time. I found myself automatically correcting him whenever I heard it.

Historia
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

I love a good mystery and Quinto's performance was great. I'd love to read more about this alternate world.

Historia
Best-selling author Bryan Burrough recently made a shocking discovery: The small town of Temple, Texas, where he had grown up, had harbored a dark secret. One of his high school classmates, Danny Corwin, was a vicious serial killer. In this chilling tale, Burrough raises important questions of whether serial killers can be recognized before they kill or rehabilitated after they do. It is also a story of Texas politics and power that led the good citizens of the town of Temple to enable a demon who was their worst nightmare.

Odd Choice of Narrator
Revisado: 03-25-19
The Narrator ruined the experience of the book. His cheerful voice was such a jarring disconnect from the text that it took me out of the book entirely.

In the small college town of Morganville, vampires and humans lived in (relative) peace---until all the rules got rewritten when the evil vampire Bishop arrived, looking for the lost book of vampire secrets. He's kept a death grip on the town ever since. Now an underground resistance is brewing, and in order to contain it, Bishop must go to even greater lengths. He vows to obliterate the town and all its inhabitants---the living and the undead.

All the characters have started to sound alike. there's no real difference between between many of them. it makes it hard to keep track of who's speaking.

Historia
Claire Danvers has her share of challenges---like being a genius in a school that favors beauty over brains, dealing with the homicidal girls in her dorm, and above all, finding out that her college town is overrun with vampires. On the up side, she has a great roommate (who tends to disappear at sunup) and a new boyfriend named Shane, whose vampire-hunting dad has called in backup: cycle punks who like the idea of killing just about anything.

I love the story, a little iffy on narrator.
Revisado: 06-19-17
the narrator's voice can be really nasally and hard to listen to. once you get past that it's a great young adult book.
