With an infusion of new data, this book presents a novel and distinctive exegesis as well as a mutually exclusive and collectively exhaustive framework for organizing and evaluating the merits of all prior authorship theories. One mechanism, in particular, has emerged as the most comprehensive, evidence-based, and satisfying explanation for how The Book of Mormon came to pass.

A new theory advances the quest for BOM source(s)
Revisado: 04-12-25
Not only has the author done his research and applied impeccable logic, he has a sense of humor. The book is rife with comical referrences. Unfortunatley, many of the references will only be caught by Mormons or former Mormons. The book does occassionaly get bogged down in minutiae and details which may be uninteresting to some readers. However, there are many new and interesting historical nuggets and connections. I have been studying Mormon history for years and much of the information in this book was new to me. Fantastic work. Kuddos to the author.

Historia
In the chaos following World War II, the US government faced many difficult decisions, including what to do with the Third Reich's scientific minds. These were the brains behind the Nazis' once-indomitable war machine. So began Operation Paperclip, a decades-long, covert project to bring Hitler's scientists and their families to the United States. Many of these men were accused of war crimes, and others had stood trial at Nuremberg; one was convicted of mass murder and slavery.

Interesting topic, brought to light too late
Revisado: 05-16-21
The U.S. Government hired Nazi doctors and scientists after World War II under the rationale that if the U.S. didn't, the Soviets would. This was, for the most part, kept secret for over 60 years. Had it been known to the general public at the time, it would have been scandalous. Brought to light in the 21st century, after all the players and people involved were dead and after so many years and so many other world crises, it is history now.
The author narrated the book. Anyone who speaks German will cringe at the mispronunciations of and slaughter of German names and words.

Beautiful Prose. Good historical fiction, giving insight to an influential, but vanished, 19th century religious group.

Historia
It is the fall of 1951 and the Korean War is raging. Nicholai Hel has spent the last three years in solitary confinement at the hands of the Americans. Hel is a master of hoda korosu or "naked kill," fluent in seven languages, and has honed extraordinary "proximity sense" - an extra awareness of the presence of danger. He has the skills to be the world's most fearsome assassin and now the CIA needs him. The Americans offer Hel freedom, money, and a neutral passport in exchange for one small service: go to Beijing and kill the Soviet Union's Commissioner to China.

I was skeptical
Revisado: 04-24-19
I was skeptical that this book would come anywhere close to being as good as Trevanian's "Shibumi." I was pleasantly surprised. As the cliche goes, "I couldn't put it down." Great prequel. Great plots and premises, writing and enjoyable narration.

Historia
Most books about the history of humanity pursue either a historical or a biological approach, but Dr. Yuval Noah Harari breaks the mold with this highly original book. From examining the role evolving humans have played in the global ecosystem to charting the rise of empires, Sapiens integrates history and science to reconsider accepted narratives, connect past developments with contemporary concerns, and examine specific events within the context of larger ideas.

Great Book!
Revisado: 03-23-19
I definitely do not agree with all of Dr. Harari's assertions and conclusions, but he lays out history and science in a comprehensive and understandable way. The opinions and conclusions in the book are thought provoking, providing ample food for thought and leaving the reader wondering and wanting more.

Historia
We are accustomed to think of sociopaths as violent criminals, but in The Sociopath Next Door, Harvard psychologist Martha Stout reveals that a shocking 4 percent of ordinary people, one in 25, has an often undetected mental disorder, the chief symptom of which is that that person possesses no conscience. He or she has no ability whatsoever to feel shame, guilt, or remorse. One in 25 everyday Americans, therefore, is secretly a sociopath.

Great Book. Monotone Delivery
