where has this book been?

I'm not sure where this book has Been or why I hadn't heard about it before. It's a great book but it almost seems like it's 2 different stories book different stories in 1. Part 1 is slow and part 2 is where the action happens and it really picks up.

This book didn't have heart, spark, or emotion. I felt the main characters we dumb, selfish and immature. In then end it was a major let down.

worth reading but not LJ’s best work.

I enjoyed this book but I didn’t love it. I liked Rosie’s character. Shes strong, Independent, knows what she wants, and holds her family together.

I didn’t like Dean. I didn’t like the “manwhore” thing and I didn’t like how they portrayed him as a good guy in the first book but jerk in this book. I also didn’t like how they made Rosies family look. In book one they were very loving and sweet and loved Dean. In book two they hate Dean and they are controlling and judgmental. I cant believe that the same please who loved Vicious would not like Dean. They also made Em look weak and a little dumb. There was deans parents. I have a very hard time understanding his dad’s motives and actions towards the end of the book. It just didn’t make sense.

Overall the beginning was slow and awkward. The middle was great and fast passed. The end was slow and drawn out.

Bottom line…worth reading but not LJ’s best work.

I loved it. There was just the right amount of mystery, love, sex and romances. I Found myself smiling, laughing out loud, and falling in love all over again.

Just bad

Where do I start? This book was just bad. Yes it was hot and steamy and made me warm inside but I just couldn’t connect with the characters. I couldn’t relate or understand their motives and honestly didn’t really care. Every time I picked this book up I fell asleep or tuned out when I listened to it. This is a pass. If you want a cheap dirty dark knock off to Fifty Shades then by all mean read this book.

WOW! Just WOW!

WOW. I loved this book. It hooked me from the first chapter to the last. I can’t wait to read the rest of the books.

I didn’t like how the plot twist was a little too complicated towards the end but other than that I really enjoyed this book.

Slow start with a lot of backstory

I enjoyed this book. I was not a big fan of the Mortal Instruments series and only read the first Mortal Instruments book. Before starting this book I was worried that I would be lost since I haven’t read any of the other previous books but this book had such a high rating I figured I would give it a try. If you haven’t read any of the previous books you should know the basics of the shadow hunter world in order to be able to follow this book. The book does a great job with giving you a history of the Clave, Shadow Hunters and downworlders.

This book starts out really slow. Mostly because it goes over the history and the Dark War and the Cold Peace. Once it gets past the back story this book really takes off. It wasn’t until the half way point that I felt I was hooked. The last half takes you on an up and down roller coaster of emotions and then it just ends and you are left wanting more. The only thing I would change is Julian. I think he could have been a little stronger character and a little less love struck.

Overall I think all of the characters were well rounded and likable. I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of Cassandra Clare’s work.

Overall this book really surprised me.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I also like that this story was told by different perspectives. Usually I am not a big fan of books that change perspectives but I felt it worked in this case. It was nice that each character had their own narrator.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked that all the characters were very different an well rounded. The story telling was amazing and if I closed my eyes I could almost feel like I was in the middle of everything. The character backstory was great too. I’m not going to spoil anything but Kaz’s backstory made me cry. Each backstory gave you a better understanding of each characters and why they did or thought a certain way. I also like that this story was told by different perspectives. Usually I am not a big fan of books that change perspectives but I felt it worked in this case. I also liked that the love story wasn’t pushed in your face. I was slow and building though out the book. The setting of the story was also great. I could almost smell and touch everything that was described.

Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes. I recognized a few of the narrators by their voices. I think the adopted the characters very well.

What I didn’t like
There were a lot of twist and turns in the story and at a certain point I wondered if they author was just throwing them in just to have fun. Any mission with that many twist would be doomed. I also felt that the characters were really lucky rather than clever since none of their plans ended up going smoothly. Then I hate how the story just ends and you are forced to read the next book. I love a good cliff hanger but I don’t feel that this book is really a complete story with a beginning middle and an end.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

It was very predictable and the characters did not seem real or well rounded. The highlight of the book was the end…but then again we all knew that it was coming.

What was most disappointing about Rachel E. Carter’s story?

The twist at the end made no sense even after they explained it. It made Ryah seem weak and not like the Black Mage she wants to become. I don’t think I will read book 3.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Melissa Moran?

No. Her voice is so monotone

The book had its high moments but the love story was very broken and unsatisfying. It also does not match the kindle version on the book. In this version the Ryah seems weak and love sick. In the Kindel version she is much stronger and stands up for herself where Ian and Darrin are concerned. I didn’t enjoy this book. There was also a lot of things going on behind the scenes with rebels that that the book did not go into. I wonder what’s really going on in the kingdom.
