Kept my interest
Revisado: 03-23-25
Good story and kept my interest. Narration was very good. The only thing that became tedious was the whining sound of the varied woman when they were upset. Too much high pitched whining.. got annoying after awhile. I like this author though. She writes in a way that grabs my interest, though her choices of narrators needs rethinking. This book had good narrators, however while I wanted to buy her other Audible books, I was frustrated listening to the samples.. many weird narrators with affected voices… completely turned off in the first few minutes!

Historia
Perla Wultz lives with her husband, Grant, and their precious daughter, Sophie, in a gated Pasadena community. Affluent, sociable, and accomplished, Perla plays the part of loving wife and mother to perfection. It seems an ideal life, if not for a decades-old crime that has become Perla’s dark and consuming secret obsession. Twenty-three years ago, Leewood Folcrum confessed to murdering two young girls during a birthday party. Though he’s been condemned to a life sentence, his crime is not forgotten.

Historia
The Abhidharma, one of the three major text collections of the original Buddhist canon, frames the psychological system of Buddhism, explaining the workings of reality and the nature of the human mind. Because of its complexity, the Abhidharma has traditionally been reserved only for academic or monastic study; now, for the first time, clinical psychologist Beth Jacobs brings this dynamic body of work to general listeners, using practical explanation, personal stories, and vivid examples to gently untangle the technical aspects of the Abhidharma.

Too bogged down in details that are relevant
Revisado: 10-12-24
This book reads like a periodical written for researchers. There is little to no practical or helpful application of Buddhist psychology… I was completely and utterly bored. If someone actually finds this interesting and useful then kudos to you… ! I’m glad for you! Really!

Steven Weber is a fantastic narrator. So natural and perfect in every way. I’m now going to buy the books he narrates!

I enjoyed this book, especially because of the narration. The story was a bit drawn out but overall the narration made the book!

The narrator is unbelievably great. His voice, his inflection, it is English spoken that is as beautiful as music.
Revisado: 04-30-24
This book was wonderful. I loved it so much because of the narrator. The content is so clever, hysterically funny in a marvelously sarcastic way, yet it is so clever. Julian Fellows is a genius writer. So very rare to hear his twists of phrase and how he so cleverly expresses an era and culture known to few. This book is a masterpiece.

It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Nothing short of Excellent
Revisado: 01-25-23
I have so much empathy for this courageous young man. What a great insight into what his life in the monarchy has been like for him. He does not put down his family- though he probably could have given all he has been through. Told in a simple, elegant, yet brutally honest way, offering insight into himself and how he was able to make sense of the existence that was his destiny. What courage. How Brave … I absolutely loved this book. It was so well written (he must have had help from a professional writer ?). Truthful from his perspective leaves no doubt that this amazing young man did what was right for him and his family.
What respect I have for the honesty and integrity this young man has shown thus far in his life. Now, this truly is a Prince. First class. And the gem he has found in such an authentic wife.

Historia
As much as we might try to resist, endings happen in every moment—the end of a breath, the end of a day, the end of a relationship, and ultimately the end of life. And accompanying each ending is a beginning, though it may be unclear what the beginning holds. In How We Live Is How We Die, Pema Chödrön shares her wisdom for working with this flow of life—learning to live with ease, joy, and compassion through uncertainty, embracing new beginnings, and ultimately preparing for death with curiosity and openness rather than fear.

Dealing with disappointment!
Revisado: 10-19-22
I have read all of Pema’s work. Ironically, I have adopted her teachings to deal with the disappointment which was very helpful because I have been admiring her for years now. Unfortunately she does the very thing that turns me off about religion-this book is full of teaching that is based on pure belief in that which is not known and cannot be known for sure… I.e., what “exactly “ happens during and following death. It requires “faith” in what is being said and frankly the concrete descriptions (I.e. 49 days for this, 3 days for that) of “what happens “ during death made no sense and sounded simply silly to me. I was disappointed in that Pema has always given common sense practical teachings based on personal experience, not requiring “faith” in esoteric beliefs that cannot really be known … however her teachings on dealing with disappointment have been great … otherwise this could have been a very upsetting change of heart regarding a woman I have for years thought so highly of… kudos to the narrator… she was excellent…
I still love Pema, because thanks to her teachings I am able to deal with this disappointing realization that she too is somewhat a victim of that which requires pure faith in believing what is being put forth in this book….

Narrator Elizabeth
Revisado: 02-15-22
Til have to disagree with a previous review critical of the narrator. She is the only reason I bought this book. She is amazing and my favorite narrator! She reads in a manner that is so soothing, articulate and varied in mood to reflect the character’s feelings. I absolutely find this Narrator nothing short of fantastic… haven’t finished the story yet but had to stand up for the wonderful narrator!!
