Excellent Story and Oration
Revisado: 09-21-22
For those of you who loved the film, this is true story and it's very well done. Made clear to me the deep level of suffering that the king underwent, and made Lionel's contributions plain.

Historia
Heroes or villains? You decide.... In the 1960s, London’s gangland was ruled by two men: Reggie and Ronnie Kray. Building an empire of crime by intimidation, extortion, and terror on a scale never seen before or since, they feted stars of stage and screen, sportsmen, and even politicians to gain the respectability they craved. Read by acclaimed actor Martin Shaw, this is the true story of their rise and fall.

Incredible Story, Writing is Dated
Revisado: 08-23-22
Incredible listen, absolutely fascinating source materials obviously. The two twins that came to run half of England's crime scene? It'd be a challenge to muck that up. That being said, I feel both several of the authors comments, especially when addressing homosexuality are quite dated. Also, the author attempts to shoehorn in a message regarding morality, and the issue of how societies should be organized and present themselves instead of simple supplying the listener/reader with the facts and a compelling story. It is frustrating that when I'd simply wished to hear about these brothers and their story, that I also must suffer the posh intellectual musings of an author who clearly has his own agenda in his writing.

Excellent Listen
Revisado: 02-12-22
Good performance by the narrator, and the author tells a harrowing tale, that appears at least on its face very well researched. Would put it on the shelf next to other solid nonfiction psuedo-poppy crime/war accounts with Black Hawk Down and Killing Pablo.

Historia
In the middle of the night, in a house on a quiet street in suburban Minneapolis, intruders silently murder Luke Ellis' parents and load him into a black SUV. The operation takes less than two minutes. Luke will wake up at The Institute, in a room that looks just like his own, except there's no window. And outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents - telekinesis and telepathy - who got to this place the same way Luke did: Kalisha, Nick, George, Iris, and 10-year-old Avery Dixon.

Very Solid Voice Acting

Admittedly not King's best work, but a good listen regardless. Voice acting was suburb imo.

Historia
On August 5, 1942, giant pillars of dust rose over the Russian steppe, marking the advance of the 6th Army, an elite German combat unit dispatched by Hitler to capture the industrial city of Stalingrad and press on to the oil fields of Azerbaijan. The Germans were supremely confident; in three years, they had not suffered a single defeat. The Luftwaffe had already bombed the city into ruins. German soldiers hoped to complete their mission and be home in time for Christmas.

Historia
As he did so masterfully in The Jungle, Pulitzer Prize-winning author Upton Sinclair interweaves social criticism with human tragedy to create an unforgettable portrait of Southern California's early oil industry. Enraged by the oil scandals of the Harding administration in the 1920s, Sinclair tells a gripping tale of avarice, corruption, and class warfare, featuring a cavalcade of characters, including senators, oil magnates, Hollywood film starlets, and a crusading evangelist.

Solid Sinclair
Revisado: 04-27-21
Anyone familiar with Upton Sinclair, or other overtly politically motivated writers of the era (i.e. Ayn Rand, George Orwell) will know they'll have to fight through the author's diatribe to hear the story.
However, Sinclair's Oil!, be it via the story of excessive political corruption, the conflicts between the haves and have nots, the battle between a father and a son, or even just the opening sequence about a cop trying to catch you speeding; all ring as true and narratively interesting today as they did a century ago.

Historia
The Talmud says: “If someone comes to kill you, rise up and kill him first.” This instinct to take every measure, even the most aggressive, to defend the Jewish people is hardwired into Israel’s DNA. From the very beginning of its statehood in 1948, protecting the nation from harm has been the responsibility of its intelligence community and armed services, and there is one weapon in their vast arsenal that they have relied upon to thwart the most serious threats: Targeted assassinations have been used countless times, on enemies large and small....

Excellent Reading; Excellent Book
Revisado: 09-15-19
Ronen Bergman does an incredible job of both painting a full historical picture of the development of the Israeli spy program and pitching his own left-leaning message. Ironically, as someone slightly at odds with his interpretations, more oft than not siding with Likud over labor of the left in terms of legal interpretations, I still found this to be an informative, captivating, and extremely worthwhile read/listen. I've gone so far as to buy the hard cover for myself and a few friends.

I'll be honest this might be the worst fantasy/sci fi adaptation I've ever heard, and I read the Halo books and the Diablo books.
Seriously poorly written.
