Historia
Venus McGee, Draya Carter, and Jackie Benson are coworkers with a lot in common. They’re smart, independent, driven, and deserving of recognition - certainly more than they’ve been handed by a demoralizing boss. He’s the topic of conversation at their impromptu get-together after the company holiday party, where the threesome fantasizes about a life without him. There has to be an alternative to taking a deep breath and sucking it up. There is. It’s just not the one they expected. When morning comes, Venus, Draya, and Jackie are blindsided by murder....

‘The After Party’ was good..ending..meh
Revisado: 01-26-22
I must have read every single review of ‘The After Party’ mostly 5 stars & the ones below weren’t bad either.
First Bahni Turpin as narrator, is as usual, great! She never disappoints the reader.
I didn’t finish as quickly as I thought because overall I wasn’t thrilled with ‘The After Party’
This follows a group of best friends and each chapter covers a particular girl. Whether it be trials & tribulations of their day to day lives, or in particular the event that is taking up their lives everyday.
Overall I think there’s too many chapters & way too many words..meaning “she looked at herself in the mirror, went to get her leather coat, put her both arms in her coat, took her keys off the table & opened the door to leave” Those wordy sentences just makes you want to roll your eyes..
BUT to be fair I enjoyed this book. It had its laugh out loud moments too. Definitely recommend but would love to see if others agree with anything I said..Enjoy!

I kept falling asleep!
Revisado: 12-26-21
When I review a book I always finish no matter what, because it either may get better & I’ll be happy OR I won’t but still want to give my opinion.
‘The Spires’ started 20 years earlier with 5 friends & the following chapter 20 years later. The problem I had was it was so boring I never got past a certain chapter—I fell asleep, started the chapter again & this literally went on for over a week!!
If you love soap operas you may like this, but it’s your call. It was confusing, I didn’t like any character nor could relate to any because not one bit of the book gave us enough insight into their character 🤷♀️
It’s really hard to write about a book I just couldn’t figure out—except sleeping

Amy Butcher was an accomplished college professor, mentor, and writer, but in her own home, she was embarrassed and emotionally burdened by an increasingly abusive relationship. Exhausted and terrified of the ways her partner’s behavior could escalate, Amy reached out to Instagram celebrity Joy “Mothertrucker” Wiebe. Joy was a 50-year-old wife and mother and the nation’s only female ice road trucker, a woman who maneuvered big rigs through the Alaskan wilderness along the deadliest road in America.

Book is not what the title u is s supposed to be about
Revisado: 11-28-21
As a believer I was happy to read about a woman called ‘MotherTrucker’ who loved The Lord and her experiences driving across Alaska with the author. I was intrigued about Joy willing to have Amy Butcher, the author, drive with her and learn about Joy, according to the editor & their reviews.
After Chapter 3 it had nothing to do with Joy & all Amy wrote about was her abusive life with men & her husband.
First I was a body that my ex husband abused & loved to hit time & time again. BUT this was all about Amy & about 1/4 about Joy. I’m not even going to get into the details that truly let me angry, except it wasn’t using God in her relationships or how He intervened. What real upset me was her using a title about a wonderful single mother who drove a rig across Alaska over ice, as in ice road truckers, because her editors threw her into it & we got a book full of statistics.
As an abused woman if I’m going to write about my being abused I’ll name it after my abused years.
Not only that, the book was completely & horribly proofread! If you are speaking about Joy then use the next Chapter about yourself, NOT in the same Chapter! It made no sense.
As I said I’m a Believer but this book was all over the place even using God didn’t help this book.
Lastly note to author: next time if you write about the abuse you received as I did, don’t talk about statistics..if I want to read those I’ll read about it in a news article. You took advantage of a horrible thing that happens to too many women & then used a terrific woman as a title of which you barely mentioned..using people to make a dollar turned me completely off!!!
Will not recommend

I had to write this review before I finished…
Revisado: 09-08-21
Yes “The Coordinates of Loss” is a tragedy, whether you lose a loved one who you said “I love you” on 9/11 & never came home 😢, to cancer, or just something that will either pull you apart or bring you & others closer.
I’m also writing this for the ones who have reviewed saying “I couldn’t read it, it’s too depressing” YES life can be depressing! This year & last year has been depressing..one minute your loved one was there & the next they’re gone & “we have our stories & have to go on”.
Some can’t but you need to read because our lives are not perfect…no matter how much you think or wish they were. You need to read because we don’t live in a bubble, no matter how much we wish we did.
I’m not going to give away everything, because there are letters of grief, a husband not knowing what to do, say, or how to act.
I’m also writing this because I too went through a tragedy that I thought the only way I’d survive was to just let go..thank God I don’t give
Don’t give up. Learn from every tragedy because hiding from a book dealing with tragedy or being uncomfortable is hiding out hand in the sand.
Please don’t give up…
Highly recommend “The Coordinates of Lose” We learn from growing daily

Good not great..
Revisado: 08-09-21
I’ve been waiting for ‘The Wrong Side ‘Bocephus Part 2’ by Robert Bailey forever! I downloaded it Friday Aug 6 I finished it this afternoon!
I was completely into another Bocephus Esq adventure & have read ALL Robert Bailey lawyer books. I love his writing! And as a reader, his books keep you wanting more.
BUT
Here’s the reason why it was not great.
The clues to the person who was arrested for murder—it’s always murder, and Becephus ALWAYS contemplating on his reasons not to represent his client—are always the same🤦🏼♀️it gets a little old.
Lastly, in Part 2 the ending was so quick I seriously wanted my money back!!
There was no run up to the murderer until the last 10 minutes & that it??!! I even knew in the beginning who did it! It was screaming out to me “I wouldn’t finish cuz you know you’re right!” and I was!
Come on Mr Bailey..did you not enjoy writing ‘The Wrong Side”? The epilogue was literally less than 5 minutes!
I recommend it because Mr Baileys books overall are fabulous..BUT..good grief! I sincerely hope there’s a Part 3 & the book isn’t wrapped up in 5 minutes! Please!

Details of “Your One True Love” are NOT as how this is book really is
Revisado: 08-08-20
First...I’m no prude...if I was I’d certainly not get Audible monthly Romance books. In a nutshell..I felt like there was no plot at all!
Second..when the details of a book are read before one reads, you’re gonna expect the book to be somewhat close to them. Well this really isn’t.
A love who comes back & explained in the beginning was fine, after Chapter 4 is was chapter after chapter of graphic sex..I mean EVERY chapter! I got to Chapter 12 and said to myself..”self..this is like listening and watching movies ‘After Dark’, just turn on the TV!!”
Like I said..I’m no prude but it’s was so sexually repetitive & boring..I just stopped it and didn’t go further.
Now maybe there are a lot of you who love this kind of story, and I usually do too..but EVERY CHAPTER??
I actually gave generous marks too..for narration, but other than that, reviews are always subjective & this was mine.

Read & listened to ‘Edinburgh Twilight’ in 2 days!
Revisado: 06-10-20
This was a fabulous book! Right off the bat Napoleon Ryan as the narrator was outstanding! The way he could put on so many Scottish, British, French & even women & children’s voices was spot on! So I wanted to say that right away!
‘Edinburgh Twilight’ is definitely a sit on the edge of your sit mystery thriller! I couldn’t put it down & I usually give myself a break once and a while from a book, but this one was different.
We are originally from England but my Aunt & a few cousins are from Edinburgh & I know the area very well, historically it was written perfectly.
Ian Hamilton is the DNI in Edinburgh looking for a killer who strikes his victims in horrible ways, not viciously, but he is horribly warped in his mind. More than one victim is struck down by this slick, pitiful, sick mind and unfortunately when you hear his voice, it can send shivers up your spin.
I’m not giving anything away, and there aren’t too many characters that you won’t be able to follow..but..which is why I couldn’t give it straight 5 stars is bcuz the killers father kept being brought up into his thoughts when he was killing BUT they were never explained in the end.
I wasn’t happy with the way it ended either. Rather, It didn’t give me the satisfaction of the way it ended..I think that’s a better view.
Ian is a very complicated yet put together DNI in Edinburgh but his past too was mentioned many times and in the end not fully explored. I am hoping Book 2 will help me understand Ian more and the way he ticks. Other than that, completely recommend ‘Edinburgh Twilight’!
Onto Book 2!

“The CareTakers” was too confusing at times
Revisado: 04-29-20
Tessa is a film maker, documentary type. She helps a man that she’s fought for to be released from prison. She positively believes he was innocent of killing many. After she gets him out of prison, let’s just say, he was NOT INNOCENT & murdered AGAIN. Her ‘great thing’ she thought & others thought, went from popular to everyone turning against her & her life basically falls apart.
In addition, she was responsible for setting this murderer free, her mom dies! Tessa and her sister Margot haven’t spoken forever, but their mothers death brings them to speak again..BUT then in their moms will it says their mother was adopted & an estate once owned by her birth family is left to Tessa & Margot.
There is so many plots & subplots after the initial beginning..
In the estate sisters Dierdre & Kitty are living there as caretaking it.
Every other chapter is either from the present and then from the past with horrible secrets..
Unfortunately I started losing ‘The Caretakers’ as a book & reading it. There was so much going on I either wanted to stop reading all together or send it back..but I didn’t bcuz the subplots/past chapters were interesting, so I kept plodding through.
Also I didn’t even like Tessa and Margo! All they did was argue & fight over ‘something’ Margot was always acting like you ‘owe me’ attitude & I found myself yelling out “Why are you too so miserable!!”
There was just too much to get into and the confusion at times overwhelmed me too! I don’t want to give away the OMG moments..so I’ll leave it here with my review. I just couldn’t keep up!
The narration was good for the “past” chapters but it seemed like there wasn’t much differences in the voices of the present chapters. I would still recommend this book by Eliza Maxwell, if you don’t mind, past & present, subplots, etc. And I will keep reading her books! This one just had me re reading too many times!

‘A Criminal Justice’ a..bit TOO much
Revisado: 03-28-20
I love author William L Myers Jr. he’s a great lawyer & writer. Also right from the start I was THRILLED to listen to narrator Will Damron! He’s my 3rd best narrator I adore! EVERYTHING narrated by Will is perfect, and I’ve listened to so many books by him and can never put his reading down for a minute!
BUT onto the book ‘A Criminal Justice’..did we have to have about two recounts of other books into one?! I’ve listened & read all this series and I seriously had to go back and forth into my past to remember the previous novels to remember who was who?
This is NOT a stand alone novel and I don’t NOT recommend it..but I seriously couldn’t keep up with SO MANY CHARACTERS from the past & present! My mind was “who was that? ‘ “which novel was she in?”
It’s a bit complicated and for me to try and tell you the basis of it, may be better to read the book details! Yes it’s about Mic who gets screwed by people who have hated him when he was a prosecutor, since he’s now a defense attorney, but it’s a..bit far fetched at pretty at the end..and to tell you the truth..I have no clue, if there’ll even be a Book 4, cuz the ending was just..odd!
I still couldn’t put it down because it was like one of those books, that’s not quite making sense, but I kinda knew who the responsible party was less than half way into it. Last word: It would have been great with a stand alone new one in the series without bringing in ALL these people I already forgot..
