Beware the Triggered Baby Boomer Reviewers
Revisado: 07-14-23
The arguments were compelling and well supported by the data and the historical record. The boomers clearly failed the country politically

Historia
Originally conceived as a joint presentation between influential thinker and best-selling author Richard Dawkins and former evangelical preacher Dan Barker, this unique book provides an investigation into what may be the most unpleasant character in all fiction. Barker combs through both the Old and New Testaments (as well as 13 different editions of the "Good Book"), presenting powerful evidence for why Scripture shouldn't govern our everyday lives.

What A Nasty Book- I Mean The Bible, Of Course
Revisado: 01-09-23
This is an interesting book to have to write a review for. In a sense this book is absolutely horrific and I considered giving up on listening to it several times because it left me absolutely sick to my stomach. This is, of course, not a reflection on Dan Barker in any way. Dan let the bible do most of the talking and I was frightened by how many hours of horrific passages one can find in the bible. I would not have guessed you could fill up the majoirty of the 15 hours of the audio book with such horrific stuff. Ultimately, I persevered and listened to most of the book. I will admit my wounded soul made me skip forward a few times.
The sub title of this book is accurate: God is the most unpleasant character in all fiction. After reading this book I am certain the bible is the most unpleasant book in the world. It is morally atrocious and the indoctrination of children with passages from it must stop. I am confident all relgions would die out, which is of course the fear of the religious, were children not forced to hear it during their childhoods. Indoctrinating children with religiou nonsense from one of any of the thousands of gods proposed throughout history has got to stop.

Historia
For too long the Religious Right has masqueraded as a social movement preoccupied with a number of cultural issues, such as abortion and same-sex marriage. In her deeply reported investigation, Katherine Stewart reveals a disturbing truth: this is a political movement that seeks to gain power and to impose its vision on all of society. America’s religious nationalists aren’t just fighting a culture war, they are waging a political war on the norms and institutions of American democracy.

This book was very informative and horrifying.
Revisado: 05-09-22
This book was very informative and horrifying. The religious wackos in the U.S. are attempting to turn the United States into a Christian version of Saudi Arabia. Our democracy is at stake even more so as of the week I am writing this review.
