Enjoyable
Revisado: 06-12-21
I thought it was a good read. All the books in the series were well read by the narrator. They faithfully followed the life and times of the the two protagonists.
Through all the campaigns in India, Spain and Waterloo I kept wondering if Richard Sharp would get a mention. Not that I really expected him to. But then who was the Rifles major who handed over the French documents at Vitoria? After all his name was Richard!
Nonetheless I thoroughly enjoyed the series. Like all Simon Scarrow books well researched written and narrated in the Audible version.

Historia
Tribune Cato and Centurion Macro, hardened veterans of the Roman army, have faced the empire's enemies from Britannia to Parthia, from Hispania to Judea. Now once again they are on a mission that will imperil their lives and those of all who serve with them. Loyal to the last to their comrades in battle, fearless in the face of the most brutal or barbaric opponents, they are the finest men the emperor can call on in the service of Rome.

I have read all the preceding books in this series. I have enjoyed them all and look forward to the next. Only 4 stars because no one is perfect. Nobody gets 5.

Historia
Rome, AD 68. Nero has committed suicide. One hundred years of imperial rule by the descendants of Julius Caesar has ended, and chaos rules. His successor, Galba, dismisses the incorruptible Germans of the Imperial Bodyguard for the crime of loyalty to the dead emperor. Ordering them back to their homeland, he releases a Batavi officer from a Roman prison to be their prefect. But Julius Civilis is not the loyal servant of empire that he seems.

Too much talking

I like books that move. When they get bogged down with jibber jabber I skip it.
I can’t finish this book.
