Historia
When a prominent animal researcher is found hanged in the midst of angry protests against his experiments, suspicion falls on biology professor Dottie Riddle. Known as the Cat Lady of Pecan Springs, Dottie's sympathy for strays—and the victim's distaste for them—gives the police reason to think she may be capable of murder. But China Bayles doesn't think so. She hires a lawyer for Dottie and starts looking around for clues. But she soon discovers that digging up old evil is a dirty and dangerous business...

Historia
A king. A knight. A prioress. In 16th century England, Isabella Launder little realizes the twists and turns her life is about to take as she surrenders herself to a small nunnery in order to forget her unrequited love of the courtier Thomas Giffard. She must learn - along with her sisters in Christ - the true nature of faith and survival, withstanding passionate jealousies, intrigues, and the emerging threats to the Church itself as one by one the monasteries are dissolved.

Interesting Book, Good Narrator!
Revisado: 12-07-16
What made the experience of listening to Roses in the Tempest the most enjoyable?
I listened to the Audible version of this book. The narrator is excellent. This book is very interesting and well done, I have it on my TBR pile. I never knew that King Henry VIII abolished all monasteries and nunneries during his reign, leaving none at all. I love all of Jeri's books, and I look forward to whatever she writes about next.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Isabella Launder - she is passionate about her commitment to being a nun, and she doesn't let Thomas have his way no matter what.
What does Jo Nelson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She gives different voices to the characters which makes it come to life better.
If you could rename Roses in the Tempest, what would you call it?
Oh no, I wouldn't rename it. I like the book title.
Any additional comments?
I always love reading Jeri Westerson's books, or now listening to them, because I always learn something new. She not only entertains me, but educates me at the same time. Thank you, Jeri, and the narrator, for some interesting car rides - which is where I listen to my audible books!

Historia
Jeff Resnick hardly knew his well-heeled half-brother. But after suffering a fractured skull in a vicious mugging, he reluctantly accepts the fact that he has a long and brutal recovery to face - and his closest of kin can provide him with the time and place to do it. Now, Jeff is haunted by unexplained visions of a heinous crime - a banker, stalked, killed, and eviscerated like a 10-point buck. When Matt Sumner's murder is discovered, a still-recovering Jeff realizes this was what he had seen. Jeff must not only convince himself of his new-found psychic ability, but also his skeptical brother, Richard Alpert.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes! No only is the book an excellent first book in a great series, the narrator is phenomenal. I LOVE listening to Steven.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Murder on the Mind?
When Jeff got badly beaten.
What about Steven Barnett’s performance did you like?
His voice, it's just so good. I like the way he's able to make you feel like you're listening to a room full of people.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Jeff got badly beaten. I can't stand the thought of him getting beat, but it's what makes his character special.
Any additional comments?
Poor Jeff! I immediately fell in love with Jeff because of all of his problems. Thankfully he has his brother to help him, and his psychic ability, which he puts to good use in knowing about some crimes. I think you will love Jeff, and Richard, too.

Lorraine Bartlett & Steven Barrett Make a Great Te
Revisado: 06-30-15
Where does Threshold rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Right up there. This is a light sci-fi, which I don't usually read, but Amanda is from earth, and imagine being stuck, as a prisoner on another planet.
What other book might you compare Threshold to and why?
No comparison for me because this is one of my first Sci-Fi books.
Have you listened to any of Steven Barnett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes, I love his narrations, and this one is high on my list.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes! But I don't have big blocks of time available to me.
Any additional comments?
You will love this book and the narrator. I love Amanda's character and I feel for her having to deal with everything brand new, including the language.

Revisado: 06-23-15
A Must read to find out the back story behind Jeff's and Richard's young lives and their living together when Jeff was a teenager, and beyond.
The funniest part was the prank Jeff pulled on Richard's grandmother when she barged into Jeff's room without knocking.
Steven Barnett does an excellent job narrating this and all of L L. Bartlett ' s books!
