narrator was ok, perfect for tink but not the rest
Revisado: 03-21-25
the oy decent thing, the narrator, she was perfect for Tink. the rest of the book, not so much. It wasn't great and it wasn't terrible. I could not, NOT, stand Tinks character. She was too young, acted very immature, tired of virgin heroines who are complete sex vixens who are the best at everything, it was all so unbelievable and so tiring. First book by this author and my last.

narration was really good
Revisado: 01-17-25
This story had a lot of potential to be really great. It falls flat in a few areas and exceeds in others. Where I wanted there to be more action, we get endless paragraphs of Caelena and dresses and staring at herself in the mirror. The trials are sometimes only briefly mentioned. What? I wanted more plot and action. The world building is not as detailed as I would have liked but I did enjoy parts of it, the atmosphere and descriptions were good, the side characters I liked, the politics could have been even better, more intriguing more conniving. The writing itself was alright and enough to keep me going with the next book, that is what the 3 stars are for. What I did not like, a huge part of the story too, is Caelena, literally the worst assassin ever and one of the most vain, vapid characters I have ever read. She wasn't really that likeable. At times I actually loathed her. I hate that Nehemia did what she did. I did not like the love triangle, it was silly and pointless. It should have been a friendship, nothing more. I realize this is YA but couldn't get over her age, 18?? really, the best assassin ever? but not surprised considering her juvenile behaviour at times. it was all a little too silly to take seriously. Did i hate it, no. Took me awhile to get through it thiugh. Do I want to see how this goes, yes but I have a feeling I won't ever like the fmc and the world and side characters are what will make this journey worth it.

Alejandra is a survivor. So far, she's lived through abduction, a near drowning, and being lost in an alien forest. She thought things were finally starting to go her way when the most intense, grumpy, and insanely tempting man she's ever seen rescues her from a monster. But sadly, that's just when everything gets even more complicated. Auzed has his orders. He is to find the missing human and deliver her to Tremanta. Getting caught trespassing in Sauven territory was not part of the plan. Neither was pretending to be the sexy beauty's fiancé.

the fmc is ridiculous, what a surprise!
Revisado: 01-08-25
I don't get it... The aliens are basically extra beautiful humans with pointy ears. Another story where the aliens are space elves. Whats really annoying, Specifically, is the fmc, she's stubborn, rude and surprise, she's white, red haired, curvy and every man wants her. The mmc, tall, dark, rugged, broody, grumpy and tattooed. Seriously? I think I have seen this somewhere, oh I know, literally every book out there. This could have been good but the tstl fmc ruins it, the plot holes and inconsistencies are rife. This reads like the author's self wish fulfillment. the fmc is ridiculous, she wants to escape back to earth, why? there were whole paragraphs telling us how pathetic and lonely her life was. She runs, she fights, except where will she go? she can't fly a space ship, she knows earth is far away, the forest is full of creatures who will eat her, but she fights the entire time. The matriarchal society is ridiculous, like a feminists modern womans wet dream, the ideas similar to other books i've read, like Grim... hmm? So the women are beautiful but society and circumstances have made them cruel, vain, selfish and heartless but not the fmc, she's not like the others except actually she is. Even the spice was boring, vanilla and the only, ONLY thing, I liked was the dog.

It was boring and yet not..
Revisado: 01-07-25
I did like the narrators, if not for them I would never have finished. I liked the setting, the "plot". The 2 stars are for the mmc and the side characters, I liked Herb, Vinnie, Kate and Devon. I did not like the fmc, her character was grating, vapid and drank too much, I mean good God, she was drunk all the time, not kidding, the story opens up with her drunk before noon, and for most of the book and needs actual therapy. It was cringey. Not relatable in anyway. Her inner dialogue was cringe and ott at times, I mean who thinks like this??

got bored and the narrator was boring
Revisado: 12-27-24
I liked the story so far but kept getting bored. The narrator isn't bad but maybe just wrong for this story, too monotone, not very good at other voices so it was a boring narration of the book. dnf because i kept getting bored and having to back track so just gave up. maybe i'll finish reading it, overall its pretty superficial and characters are all one dimemsional and the mmc sounds like the predator which was too wierd for me and bland. if this was dual narrated i might have liked it a lot more.

had its moments, but same ol same!
Revisado: 12-14-24
So this is a different human woman, different location, same enemy at large and few drone sidekicks plus Paxe. This story was annoying in that it was same formula, was rinse repeat of all the previous ones. It took forever to get going and was pretty boring. The fmc is virtually the same character as the others just a different name. Why are they so self righteous, why the hesitation to defend oneself from someone trying to kill you?? It must be author showing her hand, especially sinces these read like wish fulfillment, makes no sense. the fmc was ridiculous in her robe running around, so silly. The music thing again, that was silly too. The hero, same guy again as the previous ones. The author really has a thing for tall white space elves. So homogenous and bland. The romance (If that is what you want to call it) was so unbelievable, felt so contrived and forced. It should have been left out completely!!!!! there was no chemistry, zero, zilch whatsoever. as with ALL the other books, you know next to nothing about them, really shallow, really superficial. The only thing I enjoyed was the motley crew, the introduction of the Irini, the new location. the epilogue was even kind of meh and a let down.

I liked this story overall, a nice little addition
Revisado: 11-28-24
A nice little addition to the series, I like knowing Stans story since its mentioned quite a bit especially in the Aldebarian series. I liked the two mc's. It's just tiring that all the fmc sound virtually indistinguishable from each other throughout, its one thing to make them all similar but its another when you are at book 8 and all the fmc's, in each and every book, sound the same, say the same things, like sex the same way, act the same.. its boring and annoying quite frankly because the author doesn't do anything to change up their personalities whatsoever, they are all the same. When you get to book 8, you know exactly what they are going to say, and act. Also these guys are ike super strong, act all alpha one minute and then talk like a woman the next, ruins the whole big, tough guy thing for me and geez the spice is super vanilla, where is that super strength. Almost wish the spice wasn't even in the story, fade to black. The men are somewhat a little more different but they end up all saying and acting the same things to. Once again, this could have been great but its really just mediocre, the formula is tiresome and carries on into the Aldebarian series, so this is the author. It's frustrating because I like this world, I liked the found family, I like the plot and the action but sadly the author really fails in characterization. Also I the narrators accents were once again terrible, almost ruined the listen.

story very slowly moves on
Revisado: 11-26-24
the action was good, the overarching arc is ongoing and I like it. However, the romance in this one was dumb and i'm really tired of the way DD writes them, I would prefer fade to black spice, in this case because the sexy times are ridiculous and cheesy and completely the same in every single book. The fmc is the same in every single book so far. It's tiresome, boring, tiring to read or listen to all the repeated details in evey single book. The accent for Aiden is TERRIBLE!!!!
