Historia
November 22, 2013 marks the 50th anniversary of the tragedy that has haunted America ever since. For the first time, this concise and compelling book pierces the veil of secrecy to fully document the small, tightly-held conspiracy that killed President John F. Kennedy. It explains why he was murdered, and how it was done in a way that forced many records to remain secret for almost 50 years. The Hidden History of the JFK Assassination draws on exclusive interviews with more than two dozen associates of John and Robert Kennedy.

Historia
Based on the true story of Alexander Selkirk, who survived alone for almost five years on an uninhabited island off the coast of Chile, The Mysterious Island is considered by many to be Jules Verne’s masterpiece. “Wide-eyed mid-nineteenth-century humanistic optimism in a breezy, blissfully readable translation by Stump” (Kirkus Reviews), here is the enthralling tale of five men and a dog who land in a balloon on a faraway, fantastic island of bewildering goings-on and their struggle to survive....

Never read/listened to any Jules Verne before.
My cousin said he couldn’t put it down. He was right.
If you like non stop adventure spoken in 1850’s prose, this is worth your time.

Historia
Nazi Germany's North African defeat opened up the possibility of taking the war in the West to the European continent for the first time since France's lightning conquest by the Wehrmacht in 1940. The British chose Sicily as the target for military operations in the summer of 1943. The preparations included bombing missions over Italy ahead of an amphibious landing, and on April 4, 1943, one of the planes that took off from Libya to bomb Naples was the Lady Be Good, a B-24D Liberator bomber with a crew that had never flown a combat mission.

I always wondered what happened here.

My father told me the story about this aircraft when I was very young. He was a retired Army pilot and remembered when the aircraft crash site was discovered in the desert. Even though this account is relatively short it’s well worth the price.

What a great history of California music from a very different point of view. Encounters with guitar owners who shared their history of music with Norm as they talked guitars. It's a long way from home but now I'm going to Tarzana to drop in on Norm. Besides, I do want a cool 12 string.

Historia
When Pope Paul VII dies suddenly, Gabriel Allon is summoned to Rome by the Holy Father’s loyal private secretary, Archbishop Luigi Donati. A billion Catholic faithful have been told that the pope died of a heart attack. Donati, however, has two good reasons to suspect his master was murdered. The Swiss Guard who was standing watch outside the papal apartments the night of the pope’s death is missing. So, too, is the letter the Holy Father was writing during the final hours of his life. A letter that was addressed to Gabriel.

Just as good as all the others.
Revisado: 10-04-20
I have read all of Gabriel Allon’s exploits. This one is a little different but it reads and feels like Silva’s Da Vinci code. Very nicely done Daniel!!

Historia
The year is 1876. Warring Indian tribes still populate America's western territories, even as lawless gold-rush towns begin to mark the landscape. In much of the country, it is still illegal to espouse evolution. Against this backdrop two monomaniacal paleontologists pillage the Wild West, hunting for dinosaur fossils while surveilling, deceiving, and sabotaging each other in a rivalry that will come to be known as the Bone Wars.

Crichton does it again!!
Revisado: 09-18-20
Well written in classic Crichton temper and tone. Colorful and vivid with rich character development and conflict. I was not expecting such a great read on this particular subject since I know almost nothing of paleontology. I’m going to have to go dinosaur hunting now.
