Historia
Reagan McClane is a prodigy med school student on the brink of a brilliant career, but the United States and the rest of the world are headed toward total economic and social collapse. And it doesn't take more than a few hours for mass crime, looting, and pillaging to spread across the country like a plague. A brutal attack at her university leads to a fight for her life before Reagan barely makes it home to the safety of her awaiting grandparents and sisters on their family farm in Tennessee.

I love the storyline but...
Revisado: 11-28-16
The beginning seems a little rushed, there's not a lot of detail as to what happens, it's just happening.
Also, the narrator. She reads it like she's just reading it. There's no inflection, no difference for each character's voice, and tends to be quite halting and flat. It almost sounds like an automated voice at times.
I like the characters, but am finding Reagan to be like a petulant child, rather than a brilliant 22 year old doctor.
I really hope the narrating improves through the series or I may not be wasting my credits on an audible version.

A coordinated attack is planned to shut out all lights and emergency services to 10 major cities. Planes will fall, hospitals will go dark, no help will come. And in that terrible darkness, a dreadful plague will be released. If the lights go off, nothing can stop the bioweapon from killing millions. At the same time, the intelligence services are being torn apart from within by a plague of betrayal, murder, and suicide.

Jonathan is an unrivaled story teller
Revisado: 07-20-16
I have been a long time fan of all of Jonathan's work, I've never known of another author who can hold a candle to this genre. Ray Porter is a phenom as a narrator, and there's no one else that can ever be Joe. I'm a huge fan of this series, and I hope it goes on and on. I know there are other works that are just waiting their turn in Mr. Maberry's head, but I can't get enough of the crazy, sarcastic, loyal as hell soldier that is Joe Ledger.

great book, but not as good as the first
Revisado: 07-08-16
I was not disappointed, don't get me wrong, sequels can rarely stand up to amazing first books. I felt a little off, with so much of the story revolving around Ringer, and how Cassie and Evan kinda.... went flat. I felt something missing in this book, can't put my finger on it. But I did enjoy the whirlwind of the 12th system.

Still going strong!
Revisado: 02-27-16
I am absolutely loving this series. I'm so happy there's a bunch of the books. The only thing I'd have to give critique on would be the narrator's "female" voice. It's kind of whiny and grating, but, that's not really important. I think this is a series I could listen to many times.

A gripping, emotional, sometimes funny adventure
Revisado: 01-27-16
After reading the first book "I hope you find me", I couldn't wait to revisit the characters I had grown to adore. And while Rylie still makes some pretty irrational choices, it shows the care that was put into developing this main character. She's broken, lost, guilt ridden and afraid. But, she's also strong and smart and has a will to live, not just for herself, but for her family, the melting pot of strangers that had all come together out of need, and finding more than they expected.
Riley, has a huge guilty burden weighing her down, and the ghosts of her past, haunting her dreams. She, Connor and Chris set out to find Mariah, the woman they had turned out after the fire, and the deaths of Matt and Finn. Not knowing where else to go, other than towards L.A., the trio wind their way down highways, trails, freeways and down the streets of cities. Disaster strikes tearing the trio apart. Riley is separated from the others, only to find herself in the care of a lone man, who has a mission.
Rylie not only helps him, but finds a new side of herself, one she doesn't know if she likes.
My heart broke a little in a couple of the scenes, and I am left hoping that the missing member will find their way back to the family.
I am very eager to learn more about the lone man, Drake, who had saved Rylie. He is a very closed book, but something tells me that his story will be one worth hearing.

Definitely worth Reading and listening to

*possible spoilers*
I have both the kindle book and the audible version, so I read and listened intermittently. That aside, I absolutely loved this book. It had me hooked from the very beginning. Rylie is a strong character, who has held it together and survived the traumatic loss of her entire family. From time to time, her fragility shows through, and you often wonder if she has it in her to go on, living and to a survival center. She leaves a trail of notes, meant for family, but really, for anyone left amongst the living. When she meets Connor (well, when he saves her life), your first thought is, yay another human! But Rylie is still having a hard time dealing with her inner demons, and while desperately lonely, she has a wall up against Connor. Whether it's because she doesn't trust him, or because she's too scared to lose more people she cares for, you'll never know. When her and Connor are all but forced to leave the luxury hotel they been staying in, they set off into the new world and relative unknown.
Upon finding the center, her hopes are deflated when they find one lone survivor.
And end up bringing along some very unwelcome visitors.
This is an incredible book, the characters are well developed and given personalities all their own. I was so sad to have finished this book, but knowing it's a series, with more to come, I look forward to more of Rylie's story.
