Lovely story of encountering Christ

I came to this book after having enjoyed the movie adaptation and was blown away at the clarity with which the author articulates who Jesus Christ is, along with numerous big questions often raised by agnostics. The story is engaging, characters from diverse backgrounds are treated with dignity, all while standing firm on the objective truth of the Bible. And there are wonderful literature quotations peppered throughout.

I would recommend to other Christians and to anyone who is seeking answers to the big questions about life and may be interested in one person’s honest and compassionate engagement with them.

The narrator was quite good as well!

Brings out more of Lewis’s brilliance than I’d seen before

This was a wonderful read. I enjoyed the Ransom trilogy previously, but this book helped bring home so much more that Lewis was doing. Nothing the author said seemed a stretch at all; I was able to clearly see what she was talking about, and it felt like someone had done the extra scholarship for me and told me in a conversational, not-too-academic way. Do as the author recommends and read it as you finish the Ransom trilogy books. And then go outside and look at the heavens!

I was nervous about tackling this one, but I’m happy I finished it. I agree with other reviewers that this narrator is better than Frederick Davidson, at least for such a long book. I finished, knowing I would need to listen or read several more times to get a fuller understanding of the story and its depth, but not dreading the thought of listening to the narrator again.

It’s a classic for good reason.

One of my favorite books, read perfectly. Just a beautiful story with great characters. A warning for young listeners: the story has a heavy use of strong language (German profanities, often, but also a recurring misuse of God’s name).

Dickens is a master storyteller, and Armitage does him justice. Give it some time to develop the characters, and you will be hooked. Great production!

Wonderful narration of a classic story. Nick Offerman brought out Twain’s sarcasm and subtlety, leaving us laughing out loud! We enjoyed every minute.
