Profanely Fabulous!
Revisado: 03-09-25
Robin Peterman’s colorful characters are hilariously entertaining and educational 😉. I learn new combinations of words for body parts and functions from each of her books that are surprising, delightful, and spectacularly raunchy. Like the rest of the series, Fashionably Felonious does not disappoint. With a mix of beloved and new characters this story continues Astrid’s epic journey through her new life as a badass, vampire, the chosen one, and the true immortal, Compassion. Jessica Almasey is a phenomenal narrator that has read for the entire series. She performs characters perfectly with distinct voices for each one consistently throughout the series. Overall a great escape from the everyday drama and horrors of our current times.

Loved that the heroine was honest about her motives and that no options were off the table for her to achieve her goals. Nisha wove a great tale and I’m starting on the next one now.

Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Just when I thought life might be getting back to normal—normal being a relative word—I couldn’t have been more wrong. Marriage proposal from the Grim Reaper? Yes. Beautiful healthy baby? Yes. Friends and family safe? Yes. Ghost of my worst enemy sitting on my front porch? OMG. Yep. With the ghostly world imploding around me, I’m going to need more than superglue to repair it.

Revisado: 06-19-23
Robyn Peterman does a spectacular job of creating new interesting characters and unpredictable events. Jessica Almasy’s impressive voice talent brings Daisy’s world and characters to life. Is it the end of the world as we know it when four drag queens and an ice queen show up to Daisy’s house party? I’ve binged the whole series. Looking very forward to the next (last?) book.

It was okay...
Revisado: 12-20-20
Premise was good but it had a really slow start with a lot of explanation and little character interaction. My mind wandered off a lot during this book. I think some of the backstory was not entirely necessary. New characters weren’t well developed and didn’t seem vital to the overall plot line and seemed more like a writing shortcut to fill in some holes. Also, suspense was short lived and the story was a little anti-climactic since the villain’s identity is made obvious immediately and is never in question. Tensions between characters were explained and not emotionally built through dialogue and internal reflections so didn’t have me as personally invested as the first book. The epilogue was good and had me reflecting on other series with similar themes.

Ummm *spoiler alert*
Revisado: 10-09-20
I’ve read every Nate Temple related book and was patiently waiting for the epic Callie-Nate romance crescendo and it just fizzled and died in one book. It took me three stops and starts some wine and a rip-off the band-aid attitude to get through the first half of the book. The second half was betterish. I feel like Shayne gave us all this foreshadowing of butterflays and apocalyptic horseman hope/despair dream scenes where they’re the other half of the same whole, star-crossed lovers and it just got tossed out the window? How do you explain all that away? They just weren’t meant to be...color me disappointed. Does their romance ending make sense because they didn’t put any effort into it -ok fine. Also, they could have realized the consummation of the relationship would mean doom, but nope. And his actual true love’s back story rankles and reeks of convenience and is very unsatisfying on several levels. Not the least of which is how that effs up Quinn’s story and that character’s whole persona. And Callie’s love interest is someone we barely freaking know😤. I’m still a fan just a grumpy one. Grim is still my favorite character - he hasn’t disappointed me. Yes Grim, I tasted the painbow. Has a bit of an asstertaste.

Plot holes and superficial characters, excellent narrator
Revisado: 09-07-20
I really wanted to like this book. Love the premise of a supernatural whose origins are a secret even to them but the story line was lacking believable rationale and responses to the sudden immersion into supernatural society without even cursory explanations or attempted subversion. Whiney teenager angst overshadowed most of the plot. The secondary characters weren’t well defined either. I didn’t get that must keep listening vibe. Felt more like slogging through an assignment. I started it and felt I needed to give it a chance but it never delivered. The narrator was excellent, however, and really the only reason I made it all the way through.

Okayyyyyy *spoilers*
Revisado: 11-05-19
I like the series and Silver has grown on me even though she has the worst judgment for an adult that somehow survived to 29 on her own before blundering into the mage world. While this book’s premise is exciting and suspenseful, Silver’s terrible judgement continues its reign of stupidity and there is a major plot hole in this story that I can’t get over.
Spoiler alert ****
Early on in the story Silver keeps her blackmail to herself because of a vampire tailing her and she’s terrified he’ll overhear a conversation. Her guard doesn’t raise any alarms and goes along with her dumb decisions. Then Silver only confides in Christian after he kidnaps her to his soundproof warehouse after losing the tail. Later in the story she keeps a huge secret in front of a dozen Chitahs by handing the overlord a PIECE OF PAPER!!! Maybe she just learns all her lessons the extremely hard way but come on! A scribbled note or text message asking for help would have done the trick. The fracture with Logan and drama with Tarek (sp?) could have still happened but with the intelligence Silver thinks she has.
