Historia
Bald Is Better with Earrings is a straightforward handbook, leavened with humor and inspiration, to shepherd women diagnosed with breast cancer through the experience. Warm and down to earth, Hutton explains what to expect and walks the listener through the intensely emotional process of testing, telling loved ones, surgery, chemo, losing hair and shaving one's head, being bald, and radiation treatments.

I will be recommending to friends
Revisado: 09-01-23
I’m currently 6 weeks post-bilateral mastectomy and about to start chemotherapy. Though Andrea’s journey is different from my journey so far (every woman’s journey will be so different!) there were lots of great take-always:
1) take your port info to every infusion, 2) walk for at least 15mins right after chemo and then every day if possible, 3) speak up for yourself re staff. Those are just a few. I won’t be having radiation, but I’m sure the info there will be helpful for those who will. Thank you, Andrea. Oh, and I enjoyed your reading of your book!

Historia
In the eyes of eighteen-year-old Hua Hsu, the problem with Ken—with his passion for Dave Matthews, Abercrombie & Fitch, and his fraternity—is that he is exactly like everyone else. Ken, whose Japanese American family has been in the United States for generations, is mainstream; for Hua, the son of Taiwanese immigrants, who makes ’zines and haunts Bay Area record shops, Ken represents all that he defines himself in opposition to. The only thing Hua and Ken have in common is that, however they engage with it, American culture doesn’t seem to have a place for either of them.

Beautiful
Revisado: 11-22-22
I am at least a decade older than the author, a white lady living in a small Southern town. He had me feeling my way through a universal human experience - deep shocking grief over a suddenly lost loved one - through his eyes, ears and skin. Isn’t that what good writing is all about? For me, it’s what reading is all about. Connection. Thank you, Hua Hsu, for this book, and thank you for reading it to me.

Historia
Thousands of years ago Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius wrote these meditations as a guide for his own self-improvement, and they're still relevant today. Bedtime stories are narrated by the world’s most celebrated voices and written with no beginning, middle, or end so you don’t stay up to hear what happens next. They're interesting enough to give your mind something to focus on, but delivered in a way that encourages sleep.

THE perfect go to sleep experience
Revisado: 05-18-22
Please ask Prentice Onayemi to do more sleep readings! I’ve sampled some of his other books, but only this one has that consistent, deep, hypnotic cadence. I never, ever make to the end… zzzzzz.

And, of course, I love Ann Patchett!
This book, this book, this book!!! It has inspired me to seek opera tickets. Listening to Ann Patchett’s words via Anna Fields’ narration was a top-tier audiobook experience for me -and I have logged hundreds of audiobook hours. I loved this book SO much that I may purchase the paperback version as well because I’d love be to SEE the names (and possess this book!). It is a beautiful book about LIFE and love. Listen to this audiobook! READ ALL ANN PATCHETT BOOKS!
