The story is intriguing with a young woman discovering she has family she never knew about because her father didn't either, and a haunted manor. The narrator performed the story and characters very well and I could just picture them in my mind. I don't want to give away the story so you can discover the characters on your own, but I was really enjoying the book and thought I would discover more about the "inhabitants", when the book just ended! Kaput! Nothing else. Not even a tidbit about how to catch the rest of the story. This book is the first of a trilogy, and the second is apparently a hard cover book published recently with NO information about an upcoming audible book and nothing about the third book. Had I known this, I would have waited until all three books were available at Audible before listening to the first. By the time I get to the second and third, I will have listened and read many other books and will have to listen to the first all over again to refresh my memory as to who is whom. I wanted to review the book just to warn any other "readers" that the ending is unsatisfactory until the next book, and probably the third, is available. I recall one other book that ended in a similar manner, and I really don't like this strategy to publish more books. Just write the story in one book or create three stories that end in logical sequence.

This story is also included in the Cherringham - A Cosy Crime Series Compilation - Cherringham 25-27. I bought this story in March, used a credit to buy the compilation in April, and didn't realize my mistake until I started to listen to this title in June.
I really like the Cherringham stories, the characters, the village, and the narration. So much fun to listen.

I bought this title in March and then bought the Cherringham - A Cosy Crime Series Compilation - Cherringham 25-27 the following month in which this story is one of the three stories. I didn't realize my mistake until I started listening to this title in June. Don't order this title if you intend to get Books 25-27 in the one title.
I love the Cherringham series for the stories, the characters, and the narration.

Very realistic - unexpected

As a fire fighter, I expected this account to be a glorified account of another fire that took fire fighter lives. What I found was a captivating account that detailed the fire fighter lives at home and in the fire station, their attitudes, the excitement of the fire scene, the fire fight and the heartbreak of losing comrades and family. Although a fire fighter will understand exactly the descriptions of the fire and the fire scene, the author has described in detail so that the layman will also be able to paint the picture.
