Despite an astonishing debut performance, Christine fails to win the lead in Faust, and the Phantom’s cursed retaliation on the opera house is spectacularly fatal. As the chandelier falls, he kidnaps Christine, and through hidden passages and behind trapdoors, shares his life story with her. To secure her escape, Christine promises to stay true to him forever. But when the Phantom learns of the prima donna’s intention to flee, his passion turns terrifying.

Great narrator for a great story!!!

This was definitely a book.
Revisado: 01-18-23
This was a very dramatic, very frustrating read. That being said, the performance was really good and I did generally enjoy the overall story.

Good but Narrator Mistake
Revisado: 05-31-22
I really liked the story. But this review is mostly about the narrators. The ones who read for Darrow and Ephraim were great. Although I must admit, Darrow’s narrator has always sounded too old for that character in my opinion. But I’m used to it, so moving on. Lysander’s narrator was also good, I guess. I just really dislike Lysander as a person.
Then there was the female narrator. She made several mistakes in the narration. She pronounced some things slightly different, but only on random, one off moments. At one point she pronounced the name Julii as “Julie” rather than “Julie-eye”, the way it’s always been pronounced. But it was only that one time, like she’d made a mistake. I might have ignored it but there were other minor things like that. At one point in the audio (3:53 minutes into chapter 26) she said the line “my brother’s best friend” when in the book it clearly read, “my husband’s best friend” when Virginia is referring to Sevro. I have a physical copy of the book an was reading and listening at the same time when I noticed that. I slowed it down to .5x and played it over again, and even made someone else listen to it. Sure enough, the line was read wrong. Small moments like that would momentarily take me out of the story. But in general she had a good reading voice so I’ll give her that.

And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance - and healing - in each other's arms.

This Narration Ain't It...
Revisado: 02-17-21
I liked the story. It was ok. Admittedly, I wanted more. I can't even tell you what I wanted more of, it's just that I didn't get exactly what I wanted. But, whatever. This is an audiobook review. Let's talk about narration. I didn't like it! In general, it was fine, but I hated the narration for Cassian. I just didn't like the way she read his dialogue. To be honest, all the characters lowkey sounded the same too. I listened to this while having a copy of the book in my hand because it's easier for me to read this when the narration is playing. If I didn't have the book in hand it would have been hard to distinguish character voices.
Overall, the book was ok. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Meh.
Revisado: 10-02-18
My expectations for this book were great. The book itself was pretty bland though. I have to admit, the performance was wonderful, sadly, the story was just not for me. I would certainly get another audiobook read by this narrator!

Wonderful Book!
Revisado: 10-02-18
I tried reading it by myself before getting the audiobook and I wasn't all that into it. The moment that I got the audiobook and started listening I was entirely engrossed in the story. The narrator was fantastic and the story was itself was wonderful. I loved the complexity of the world. I can't wait for the sequel!

Historia
The orphaned Jane Eyre has emerged a fiercely independent young woman. As governess at Thornfield Hall, she's found her first real home - though it stands in the shadow of the estate's master, Mr. Rochester, and its haunted halls ring with maniacal laughter. For even the grandest houses have secrets. As much a story about defying convention as it is about coming-of-age, Jane Eyre remains one of the most beloved novels in the English language.

Historia
Labeled variously a realistic story of whaling, a romance of unusual adventure and eccentric characters, a symbolic allegory, and a drama of heroic conflict, Moby Dick is first and foremost a great story. It has both the humor and poignancy of a simple sea ballad as well as the depth and universality of a grand odyssey.

Only 4 Minutes!
Revisado: 02-19-18
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
When I downloaded it I read that it said it was the UNABRIDGED version! Why was it only four minutes? If it had said "sample" I wouldn't have gotten it!
