Well written and performed captivating story.
Revisado: 10-29-24
A crime novel with interesting questions of morality and human nature in a sci-fi world not much apart from our current reality.

Historia
Environmental devastation and economic chaos have turned America into a land of horrifying depravity. Assault, theft, sexual abuse, slavery, and murder are commonplace. And a zealous, bigoted tyrant has won his way into the White House. Directly opposed is Lauren Olamina, founder of Earthseed - a new faith that teaches "God Is Change". Persecuted for "heathen" beliefs as much as for having a Black female leader, Earthseed's followers face a life-and-death struggle to preserve their vision.

Depressing tale of post Trump America
Revisado: 10-13-24
The book is interesting sequel that lacks the sense of hope the first book had. It's a post apocalyptic world that doesn't feel fictional, but something Trump voters are attempting to bring into existence right now. Families torn apart by ideologies, concentration camps, witch-hunts and other the worst atrocities of human nature made it a very painful book to get through. It's well written but so bleak it hurts.

Exclusive to Audio! Somewhere amongst the shadowy stacks and the many basements of the British library, something is very much amiss - and we're not talking late returns here. Is it a ghost, or something much worse? PC Peter Grant really isn't looking forward to finding out....

Witty and full of pop culture references

I love the Rivers of London series and this short story was a happy addition to it. I only wish it was longer. Ben Aaronovitch always leaves me wanting more of his books. Narrator was great too. I'm going to see what else he has read.

Bujold never fails to entertain!
Revisado: 09-19-24
Political intrigue with interesting backdrop of fantasy theology and magic. The temple demon lore is interesting. So far my favourite of the Penric novels, but doesn't quite hold a candle to Bujold's epic Vorkosigan Saga. I so wish there could be more of them.
