Revisado: 08-18-21
I though over all this was a good story with potential… i would have liked better character development … some sometimes i felt it seems stilted. This could be in part to the narration. I might get the second book but hesitate because of the narration… there’s a difference in just reading the book as opposed to taking on the character as if it was yourself… it felt like it was read…. Impersonally… this is hard to explain - all the right emphasis on passages… yet it’s one of the few times a narration bothered me…

Wowza
Revisado: 05-26-21
This book... wowza. I listen to a lot of audible books a year... rarely do i write a review. I struggle how to review without ruining it for first time listeners.
Let me preference this by saying it is only time I listened to a book the second time immediately after finishing. Those two boys... captured my heart.
I have 6 children and 6 grandchildren so i hesitated purchasing this as the subject matter is a real threat to all those with loved ones. But, i realized if it was to heavy or to focused on the inner workings of a sick demented mind i could stop and return it. It was not like that, thankfully.
And as my second reading suggests- i am grateful i gave it a chance. What amazing character development and over all story.
Those two boys.... so glad i got to know them.

Historia
Over twenty years ago, the heiress Patricia Lockwood was abducted during a robbery of her family's estate, then locked inside an isolated cabin for months. Patricia escaped, but so did her captors - and the items stolen from her family were never recovered. Until now. On the Upper West Side, a recluse is found murdered in his penthouse apartment, alongside two objects of note: a stolen Vermeer painting and a leather suitcase bearing the initials WHL3. For the first time in years, the authorities have a lead - with the suitcase and painting both pointing them toward one man.

The narration was fine - although i finished this book... i simply wish i hadn’t purchased it. I like Mr Coben’s books... usually. This one... i did not enjoy not the story line, not the characters... not the convoluted twists and turns...

Historia
A winter’s night, Venice, 1815. A 217-year-old dog is searching for his lost master. So begins the journey of Tomorrow, a dog who must travel through the courts and battlefields of Europe - and through the centuries - in search of the man who granted him immortality. His adventures take him to the London Frost Fair, the strange court of King Charles I, Versailles, the golden age of Amsterdam, and to 19th-century Venice. Tomorrow befriends both animals and humans, falls in love (only once), marvels at the human ability to make music, despairs at their capacity for war....

Narrator
Revisado: 05-13-19
I will be thinking of this story for a long time to come because so many of
the complexities of life situations we face are given clarity and meaning by embracing simplicity.
Having said that....
This is a first review for me out of hundreds (thousands ) of books I have listened to. It is the first audible book I wish I had simply read not listened to. I almost returned it and intended to purchase a hard copy.... but I stuck it out because the story held me. I felt the narration was poor. Somehow all the male voices in it were flat- it was grating . This may have been a book best served by two narrators rather the one. Just my opinion and worth it to decide for yourself.
