Maybe it’s just me?
Revisado: 04-03-22
I’ve listened to 10 of Mark Dawson audiobooks. I’ve rated them all 5 stars. Great narrator. BUT in this latest book two things caused me to downgrade my ratings. 1) the story is to convoluted with M-15, Milton’s old group going against a group of ex M-15 employees. Then Milton involving himself in the mix on his own. One positive thing is the characters Ziggy which were familiar with from prey novels and a new character Could carry a novel on there own. Lastly for the decrease in my ratings is the narrator had so many voices to construct, some characters sounded the same including females that it was difficult identifying who was speaking. If your a Dawson/ Melton fan listen. But you have got to pay attention and stay sharp. I bought this one but wouldn’t do it again. Free yes!

Historia
Shamus Award winner and Edgar Award nominee Don Winslow combines breathless suspense, zany wit, and whiplash action in his latest novel featuring grad student/private eye Neal Carey. Now Neal is assigned to escort monkeyish octogenarian Natty Silver home from Las Vegas to Palm Springs. Natty, once a burlesque top banana, has a nonstop barrage of corny jokes, an eye for an aging cocktail waitress, and a chronic disappearing act.

Disappointed
Revisado: 02-19-22
I don’t normally write reviews. However, I read many Don Winslow’s books and will read many more. Great writer and love his sense of humor. BUT this story seems to be written as a hobby and not as his profession. Nick Cary was trained by Joe. In this store, Nick can’t drive a manual transmission, shoot a firearm or think ahead about situations. Also the story is disjointed. But if you’re a fan take it as you wish. I finally turned off it at chapter 28. To disappointed. Like I said, it was like easy publishing money? 3 hours as a hobby.

Historia
Neal Carey is not your usual private eye. A graduate student at Columbia University, he grew up on the streets of New York, usually on the wrong side of the law. Then he met a P.I. who introduced him to the Bank, an exclusive institution with a sideline in keeping its wealthy clients happy and out of trouble. They pay Neal's college tuition, and Neal gets an education that can't be found in any textbook, from learning how to trail a suspect to mastering the proper way to search a room. Now it's payback time.

Historia
Ten years ago, six-year-old Catalina Mateo hid under the porch of her family home while a knife butchered her mother and a bullet killed her father. Now a rough-sleeping orphan, Cat arrives at the house of Detective Jonathan Stride, pleading for protection. Drenched in the icy waters of Lake Superior, she claims to have narrowly escaped a cold-blooded killer. Stride's raw instinct is to protect Cat, whose late parents' case - and his personal guilt associated with it - still sends a shiver down his spine. As a result, he takes the troubled teenager under his wing.

Good story
Revisado: 01-21-22
It’s a good story. Intense and logical until the almost the end. The climax to this tale is disappointing. It lapses into improbability and a day time soap opera ending. Still worth the listen but be ready for an improbable ending.

Wow, unexpected pleasure.
Revisado: 12-19-21
The review from Amanda is undeserved. I’m a David Gresham, David Baldacci, Owen Parr and Scott Turow fan. The audiobook one of the three in the trilogy is equal to the writing of all these authors. I listen to at least 4 audiobooks a month. I’m highly critical of improbable scenarios, and shallow stories. James J. Kaufman equals the above 4 mentioned authors.

Who is the little known author?
Revisado: 11-13-21
I listen to at least 3 audiobooks a month. Member of audible.com. Behavioral Psychology UC Santa Barbara. 22 years cut my teeth on the California State Hospital system, the Veterans Administration. Ex USAF, Wounded Warrior. Retired. Point is, I’m a very critical critic. Logic based. Charlie Huston makes an enthralling story with no logical mistakes. I’m a huge John Grisham, Michael Colleens, David Baldacci, Mark Dawson & Mark Greanly, (who co-authored with the famous Tom Clancy), prior to Clancy’’s death. Google the guys if you love fantastic journeys into fiction. Maybe I’ve shared too many of Henry’s experiences. I was an ex- patriot, AirAmerica overseas in the Air Force. A wet boy as they called me. Please give this a read or listen. Guarantee you’ll throughly enjoy the ride.

Historia
She's old-money Miami. He's barefoot Coconut Grove. The only thing they had in common was the law, until they faced each other in the steamiest murder trial of the century, a case that would make sparks fly, headlines scream, and opposites attract. Surrounded by crooks, con men, and a cast of colorful characters, Steve Solomon and Vickie Lord must solve the crime before they end up in ruin, in jail, or, worse, in bed.

Revisado: 01-15-21
The 10 laws of Solomon. I tend to be hypercritical of legal dramas. Just can’t find fault here except a minor story past reference, you’ll never catch it on the storyline. As enjoyable as John Grisham, best novel. I don’t say that lightly. Enjoy.
