Historia
Born into slavery, Dahlia never knew her mother - or what happened to her. When Dahlia’s father, the owner of Vesterville plantation, takes her to work in his home as a servant, she’s desperately lonely. Forced to leave behind her best friend, Bo, she lives in a world between black and white, belonging to neither. Ten years later, Dahlia meets Timothy Ross, an Englishman in need of a wife. Reinventing herself as Lily Dove, Dahlia allows Timothy to believe she’s white, with no family to speak of, and agrees to marry him.

Exceptional!
Revisado: 11-15-22
I have read this author's work before and was familiar with her style or so I thought. This story took me into a whole new dimension. I had to start a few times to be sure I was reading the right author. The story started slow until I could catch the flow of the narrators, then it took off like a rocket! A++ and 5 stars!

Our history!
Revisado: 11-08-22
What a beautifully written story about a part of our history that I had the pleasure of listening to. So much of our present, I feel was started with Josephine Leary, against a magnitude of being a colored woman with a head for business. I truly hope this author will bring further works of our little known history!

Master story teller!
Revisado: 11-01-22
I believe I have read almost all of this author's work and am amazed how she keeps topping herself! Her stories are wonderfully crafted and flow so smoothly. This work was no different. The brilliance of how the story was phrased and told, made the message that more prominent. I really can't wait for her next work!

What a ride. I loved this book. The action and suspense was amazing. I can admit I struggled in the beginning, but after a few chapters I got my footing with the characters and just held on for the ride! Although there was a lot of political talk, I paid that no attention. Just concentrated on the story.

Moving and shaking, ups and downs, twist and turns. This ride kept me hanging on with this team of mail carriers. Each character followed their assignment to bring it all together! Can't wait for more from this author!

Maybe it was just me but I didn't really get into the story that well. I could not keep track of the characters and their shenanigans and the back and forth from past to present. Maybe it was the narrator but it was a miss for me.

Historia
Venus McGee, Draya Carter, and Jackie Benson are coworkers with a lot in common. They’re smart, independent, driven, and deserving of recognition - certainly more than they’ve been handed by a demoralizing boss. He’s the topic of conversation at their impromptu get-together after the company holiday party, where the threesome fantasizes about a life without him. There has to be an alternative to taking a deep breath and sucking it up. There is. It’s just not the one they expected. When morning comes, Venus, Draya, and Jackie are blindsided by murder....

I am a fan...
Revisado: 05-15-22
and often times cringed at some of the scenes being portrayed with the characters with the pink elephant in the room. Numerous times I thought I was going to have to walk away, but I stuck it out and I'm glad I did. The outcome was so unexpected. Everyone moved on in the best way for themselves. As I am wtiting this review, the word that comes to me is redemption.

Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word.
