Good, but too much mush.

Night carrier landing and combat parts keep one on the edge. Fine job of narration. A skosh too much of "they too are heroes who remain at home changing diapers" tedium.

I've listened to several of his boots, but this one beats all that went before.

What would have made The Guilty better?

Less of it. Far too much verbiage.

Would you ever listen to anything by David Baldacci again?

Perhaps, but only because I've already bought one and believe everyone deserves a second chance. Although, last winter I tried wading through one of his novels (Reading it), which name I can't recall, and gave up in frustration at its childishness.

What about Kyf Brewer’s performance did you like?

Brewer did well with what he was provided.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Guilty?

The over-the-top fantasy of the super assassins.

Any additional comments?

Sorry Dave. Don't mean to be nasty, but sometimes a writer should wait until he really has something worthwhile to write.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

A different author.

What was most disappointing about Thomas R. Hargrove’s story?

Self-pity. Me, me, me.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Long March to Freedom?

Most

Any additional comments?

Twenty-one hours of waterboarding. No, not to Tom. To those naive enough to listen to his whining. Rice and pasta, pasta and rice. Those stupid, nasty FARC child hoodlums ignoring Tom's HUMAN RIGHTS. I never thought I could empathize with FARC. Tom made me come close.

Simon Vance
