Wonderful Adventure
Revisado: 02-25-25
I picked this book on a whim looking for a lighthearted read. While some of the content is heavy, it is a well woven story full of laughter, love, and tears. Take the chance! You’ll fall in love with The Messy Lives of Book People too.

Historia
Brandi Carlile was born into a musically gifted, impoverished family on the outskirts of Seattle and grew up in a constant state of change, moving from house to house, trailer to trailer, 14 times in as many years. Though imperfect in every way, her dysfunctional childhood was as beautiful as it was strange, and as nurturing as it was difficult. At the age of five, Brandi contracted bacterial meningitis, which almost took her life, leaving an indelible mark on her formative years and altering her journey into young adulthood.

Musical memoir of the literal sense
Revisado: 02-19-25
I adore how Brandi intertwined her music and her story. I don’t think it would have been the same to read this title. I did get a little confused at the transitions at times since there wasn’t a segway but soon learned to listen for the pauses and anticipate a musical tie in. This story is one of love and dedication. I’m so very glad I took the time to listen!

Historia
When her mother died, Brown ran as far away from yoga as she could until a running injury left her needing the very thing she was running from. It was there - on the mat - that she processed her grief and found her mother again. As she went deeper into the poses, she discovered she was more like her mother than she thought. Through it all, she found a deeper understanding of the practice, of the breath, and of the life her mother lost too young.

Must Read for Yogi-Lovers!

I laughed, I cried. The coming of age story is relatable. The vinyasa of life undeniable. This book is everything that yoga means to me.
