I was hoping for an entertaining, light-hearted story, and that's exactly what I got! There are some dark aspects concerning the child's past, but all in all, this is a pleasant story with a happy ending, just as I expected.

There are too many characters and the writer never develops the story of any of them deeply enough that you feel you know them. The southerners are portrayed as flakey and superficial and the british characters are annoying and cold. The narrater incorrectly pronounced "Edisto", an island in South Carolina, several times. The story skips around and leaves you wondering if you missed parts of it. The best thing about this book is Audible's description.
