Reading scenes overly dramatic
Revisado: 06-28-24
To me the narration sounds like a soap opera. This leaves each characters words, actions, and reactions seeming over the top, unrealistic and overdramatic.
Not being a fan of soap operas I gave up on this book about two hours in. This is not our reflection on the quality of the book just my reaction to a narration style.

Narrator used an accent which I would best describe as French. This narration choice, for me, was difficult to understand making it hard to follow the story.

After 9/11, the United States made one of the most secretive and dangerous deals in its history. The evidence against the powerful Saudis who coordinated the attack would be buried. In return, King Faisal would promise to keep the oil flowing and deal with the conspirators in his midst. Is Bigger Leaner Stronger a body building book that can help you pack on brain-shrinking amounts of muscle in 30 days flat? No. Is it a fitness nutrition book full of dubious diet and exercise “hacks” and “shortcuts” for melting belly fat faster than a roided hornet? Absolutely not.

Not that informative
Revisado: 06-24-19
If you expect a blueprint for the gym then you will be disappointed.
Using the exercise info in the book as presented willing probably end in injury.
How heavy is heavy? Any worm up?
The book seemed intentionally vague so you would go to his site and maybe pay for some coaching.
There are better choices which will give you all the info you need and more besides!

To much misderection
Revisado: 04-23-19
The author has throwen so many plot twists and misdirection into Red Cell that the story soon becomes boring and tedious. It is impossible to like, hate or feel much beyond apathy for any of the characters. With about 5 hours to go in the audio I found I didn’t care what happened to any of the characters or even how the story turned out. I gave Red Cell only 2 stars mostly because there are far better choices in this genre. Books, like Red Cell, that explore the questions of how far would a person or groop go to preserve there values and idea of right and wrong are numerous. In Red Cell I saw little difference between the tererists, the government agency and the president in there whillingness to kill ruthlessly, betray even the most sacred trust and basically do whatever it takes to achieve there goals. Might have been exactly what the author was trying to accomplish but I doubt it given what I could follow as the plot line.
I like most of what Stephen Frey has written and realized upon checking that I had not bought or listened to the first book in this trilogy. If I had, perhaps I would feel different about this book but I doubt it. If you, like me enjoy Stephen Frey’s other books and happened to see an unread title; save

Makes Zero sense!
Revisado: 04-08-19
There was an event early in the book that was totally unnecessary but without it the author couldn’t build the story line. Without this event the plan probably works out perfectly … with it everything unravels. Even if things hadn’t been written as they were the very fact the event happens would have caused people to look closer and certainly unravel an ingenious plan. I personally find it offensive when an author writes such a clearly dumb story line then hopes I won’t notice that the rest of the story is built on this ridiculous beginning. I did listen to the entire book with the hope that the start of the book would some how make sense. It didn’t. If you, like me, are looking for a stories plot to make sense then skip this book. In the reviews I read this seemed to be an issue for only one other listener so maybe it’s not important to most people.
On a positive note Scott Brick does a decent job as narrator which made it not a complete waste of a credit.
