Historia
No evildoers have tried to flatten Peter Parker in weeks. His marriage to Mary Jane is stronger than ever, and he's enjoying his job as a high-school science teacher. Life is good. Naturally, that doesn't last. When Peter learns that his old enemy, the Rhino, is on a rampage in Times Square, he suits up as Spider-Man to stop the destructive villain in his tracks. But he's unexpectedly foiled in his attempts by the Black Cat, a former ally and old flame. The Cat informs Peter that the Rhino is just a distraction - the real threat comes from a group of Ancients.

Historia
The Order of the Deacons stand as protectors of the Empire, guardians against ghost possession, sentinels warding off the malevolent haunting of the geists. Sorcha Faris, the most powerful deacon of the Order, finds herself thrust into an unwanted partnership with a total novice, Merrick Chambers. That’s bad enough, but when they are dispatched to an isolated village to counter a surge of violent geist activity, they find their fate bound with Raed Rossin. Shapeshifter and Pretender to the Imperial throne, he bears a terrible curse which endangers them all.

Excellent performance held back by a weak story
Revisado: 03-10-19
An intriguing premise, but lacking depth in both world building and character development. The magic system seems undeveloped or only loosely expained as new abilities are introduced almost dues ex machina, except when they do nothing anyway. The characters are one dimensional and thier relationships weakly defined. I had high hopes for this story, but its execution is just disappointment.
The best I can say about the audiobook is that the narrator/author has an epic voice and listening to her voice the protagonist is enjoyable.

Historia
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

A rocky start but incredibly compelling eventually
Revisado: 10-07-18
With a rapidly changing perspective, and fantasy elements that could use more explaination early on, I found this story difficult to get invested in. "What the heck are Spren?" "Why can't we focus on one character for a while longer?" "This magic system feel arbitrary or unrealized". Eventually, the plot congress into focus, and the core characters take center stage, and when everything starts to click, the story suddenly becomes an immensely compelling character drama.
Worth the effort of getting into.

Enter Becks, soccer phenom, all-around-hottie, and Sally's best friend practically since birth. When Sally asks Becks to be her F.B.F. (fake boyfriend), Becks is only too happy to be used.

Passable story. Decent voice work.
Revisado: 09-15-18
I don't expect much from a teen romance story, but this seemed to fall a bit short of even that. Some character reactions seemed contrived, and the protagonist seemed too clueless to be human.
Otherwise, it's enjoyable enough.

Historia
In teeming Victorian London, where lavish wealth and appalling poverty live side by side, Edward Pierce charms the most prominent of the well-to-do as he cunningly orchestrates the crime of the century. Who would suspect that a gentleman of breeding could mastermind the daring theft of a fortune in gold? Who could predict the consequences of making the extraordinary robbery aboard the pride of England's industrial era, the mighty steam locomotive?

Darker Than Expected
Revisado: 10-13-17
Knowing that this was the same author behind Jurrassic Park, I expected a family friendly romp. A victorian heist with endearing rogues and witty banter.
Instead, this ended intense and at times depressing. No one is really the good guys here. It's Victorian England and this book revels in the worst aspects of that society. Death is everywhere.
I can't say it's a bad story. It's well written and very well acted. But it's not what I wanted, and I'm glad you be done with it. If you like a gritty crime period drama, this book will do. But if you're looking for a upbeat heist plot like Ocean's Eleven or the Alpha Caper, this book isn't for you.

Historia
In a world full of super powers, Felix has a pretty crappy one. He has the ability to modify any item he owns. To upgrade anything. Sounds great on paper. Almost like a video game. Except that the amount of power it takes to actually change, modify, or upgrade anything worthwhile is beyond his abilities. With that in mind, Felix settled into a normal life. A normal job. His entire world changes when the city he lives in is taken over by a super villain. Becoming a country of one city. A city state.

Historia
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

Gave me a lot to think about. Some of which I really needed to hear. This self help book doesn't sugar coat anything, and in that way it really cuts to what we all really need to hear.
