Historia
We are often on a quest for more, giving in to pressure every day to work more, own more, and do more. For Courtney Carver, this constant striving had to come to a stop when she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Stress was like gasoline on the fire of her symptoms, and it became clear that she needed to root out the physical and psychological clutter that were the source of her debt and discontent. In this book, Carver shows us how to pursue practical minimalism so we can create more with less - more space, more time, and even more love.

The sampler platter of simple living.
Revisado: 06-14-21
The narration is somewhat flat, and overall I didn’t take away very much from this book. The content was good but very basic. There were a lot of references to other books and programs, which sometimes made it seem like I should be listening to those instead. I like autobiographies, so I did enjoy the parts where the author talked about her memories and things that bring her life peace and happiness. That was the best part of this book.

Historia
Hugh Quarshie reads the extraordinary autobiography of Solomon Northup. His harrowing true story, first published in 1853, was a key factor in the national debate over slavery prior to the American Civil War, significantly changing public opinion on the topic of abolition. It tells the horrifying tale of Solomon Northup, an educated, free black man living with his wife and children in New York State, whose life takes an appalling turn when he is kidnapped, drugged and sold into slavery.

The recording is great, and the story is an incredible account of bondage, perseverance and the hope of freedom and justice.

A Vindication Of The Rights Of Men and A Vindication Of The Rights Of Woman

Historia
Mary Wollstonecraft, often described as the first major feminist, is remembered principally as the author of A Vindication of the Rights of Woman (1792), and there has been a tendency to view her most famous work in isolation. Yet Wollstonecraft's pronouncements about women grew out of her reflections about men, and her views on the female sex constituted an integral part of a wider moral and political critique of her times which she first fully formulated in A Vindication of the Rights of Men (1790).

Brilliant Critique of Gender Roles
Revisado: 03-17-21
Wollstonecraft confronts social hypocrisy, gendered oppression and educational discrimination logically and articulately. There is a good reason she is considered one of the primary founders of feminist philosophy. Additionally, the voice recording was good quality.
