Romance books are not my cup of tea
Revisado: 10-17-21
I didn’t realize that this would be a romance book until I started listening. I suffered through in order to Solve the mystery. It was not predictable because it was over the top unrealistic and like many Perry Mason mysteries the real killer was only presented in the end of the story. It seemed like the author went on and on and then decided to bring in this new character to end it. I was able to finish only because I fast forwarded through the repetitive description and the. Silly romantic and sex scenes. I suppose some people would like this story. It just wasn’t for me.

Not As Engaging
Revisado: 10-15-21
I found the two books prior to this, The Disappearance and The Wolf Pack, to be more engaging. Ling Range did not have a tight plot but it did tie up a few loose ends from the previous books.

Historia
L.A. private eye Elvis Cole is hired by popular television star Jodie Taylor to delve into her past and identify the biological parents who gave her up for adoption thirty-six years before. Cole's assignment is to find out their biological history and report back. It seems all too clear cut. But when he gets to Louisiana and begins his search, he finds that there's something much darker going on. Other people are also looking for Taylor's parents, and some are ending up dead.

I tried to listen to this story for almost three hours. The whole time I was waited for Robert Crais’s voice to show up, instead I became more and more disillusioned! The narrators as also awful.

Final Book in Long Trilogy
Revisado: 09-10-21
This book ties up the loose ends of the two previous books. While the story was good it was entirely too predictable. I also became bored by the endless musings of the narrator. I think Iles’ should consider hiring an editor who will keep him honest by editing out the endless monologues. Still the story itself was riveting if you can stick with it for 26 hours.

Historia
Not long after donning the uniform of the McCreary County Sheriff's department in Bone Gap, Tennessee, ex-Marine Brynn Callahan faces her first official homicide. On a cold February morning, a lone cross-country skier stumbles across the mutilated body of a young woman. Sent to investigate, Brynn is shocked when she recognizes the victim as a fellow Traveller, Maura Keene. Maura held a solid standing both within the Travellers’ insular community and among the settled townspeople - a fact that makes her murder all the more disturbing to Brynn, who also straddles the two worlds.

The Main Character was Maddening
Revisado: 06-21-21
This story was not a straightforward mystery. To me, it read like the introspection of a blathering drunk and drug addict whose only redeeming quality was her sweet dog. There was a mystery to solve, but it was only a distraction from the self-pitying unlikeable main character. Ugggg!

Historia
In May of 1945, German forces surrendered to the Allied powers, effectively ending World War II in Europe. But millions of lost and homeless POWs, slave laborers, political prisoners, and concentration camp survivors overwhelmed Germany, a country in complete disarray. British and American soldiers gathered the malnourished and desperate foreigners, and attempted to repatriate them to Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, and the USSR. But after exhaustive efforts, there remained over a million displaced persons who either refused to go home or had no home to which to return.

An Important History that Resonates Today
Revisado: 04-22-21
This history is so important that I wish everyone would know and understand the insights provided by David Nasaw. The book helped me reflect on the way our recent history shaped struggles and problems today. Today is born in our recent past.
The book is long, but it is full of primary sources, quotes and detailed research of records and political action as well as comments from those leaders who were positioned in power around the world.

Excellent Award Wining Novel
Revisado: 04-11-21
I enjoyed this book and felt it was a well written mystery as well as an introspection into the heart of two sisters. Other reviewers found the novel hard to follow. I think this might have been because the story jumped back and forth in time and place. Reading the book as an actual hard copy would have solved this problem. I don’t have a copy of the book but I wonder if each chapter had a title. No matter, the book is one that you must concentrate on to catch the subtle shifts. For me it was well worth the concentration.

I waited several months for this book to come out. I think Jane Harper is a literary marvel. Her depth of human motivation places her apart from other mystery novelists. Wow, read this book.
