Historia
In this “vital, necessary, and beautiful book” (Michael Eric Dyson), antiracist educator Robin DiAngelo deftly illuminates the phenomenon of white fragility and “allows us to understand racism as a practice not restricted to 'bad people'" (Claudia Rankine). Referring to the defensive moves white people make when challenged racially, white fragility is characterized by emotions such as anger, fear, and guilt and by behaviors including argumentation and silence. These behaviors, in turn, function to reinstate white racial equilibrium and prevent meaningful cross-racial dialogue.

Must-read for every white progressive
Revisado: 05-04-21
Voting for Obama does not exempt you. Having Black friends or family does not exempt you. Living or working near Black people does not exempt you. This book is a great sociological look at the actions or inactions we white people take to support white supremacy. The book serves as a prompt for self-reflection and anti-racist actions. It will rightfully crush your self-satisfaction in a heartbeat. Simply the most important and transforming book I’ve read this year.

Long but worth it
Revisado: 03-03-20
I loved that the author intertwined his life stories with his explanations of racism. This book has forever changed my thinking. From now on, I’ll think of “racist” as a label for policy, not people, and stay focused on outcomes.

Should’ve been a blogpost
Revisado: 02-10-20
After 4 hours of listening, this could’ve been a blogpost on the 2 commonly-missing essential elements of meetings and the 4 types of meetings to solve them.
Also, the narrator makes the young character sound like Keanu Reeves. It’s impossible to un-hear.
