Being a court jester sounds perfect. Juggling! Acrobatics! Knife-throwing. It's all fun until until an attempted murder happens. In the second book in The Guardian Angel series, angel Pelagius visits AD 1351 and introduces readers to Raphael, a young man trained to be a court jester in Avignon, France. His study of juggling, acrobatics, and knife throwing is supported by his patron, the most powerful man in Europe, Pope Clement VI. But when Raphael is falsely accused of attempting to murder the pope, his talents become tools for survival as he pursues the identity of the real would–be ...

The original book is far superior, but if you you love the Winds of Light books this is the 7th (The Jester's Quest) with some annoying angel commentary awkwardly added in.
So better than nothing, but only assuming you distinctly prefer listening to books rather than reading them. If you're happy to do either I recommend reading the original if you can find it.

Historia
Like many old New England families, the Kellings live to die. Although their family vault is spacious and comfortable, it will not do for Sarah Kelling's great-uncle Frederick. In his will, he demands to be buried inside the ancient family tomb at Boston Common, which hasn't admitted a new member in more than a century. But when the Kellings crack the old vault's door, they find a recently built brick wall - and behind it lays a surprisingly fresh corpse, a skeleton with rubies in its teeth.

I remembered this book positively, but it definitely exceeded my expectations. The story was smart and exciting, the emotional beats were powerful and compelling, and it was funny and very charming to boot. Furthermore the readers perfance was excellent and very enjoyable. I highly recommend this book for fans of lightly humorous mysteries.
