Historia
Of the billions of greenskins who swarm the galaxy, the name of one strikes fear into the hearts of human and xenos alike—Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka. The Warlord of Warlords. The Beast of Armageddon. The Prophet of the Waaagh! With his tusks, fists and power claw, he does the holy work of Gork and Mork—and soon all worlds will burn in his bootprints. Mystery shrouds the origins of such a beast. Rumours abound that the mighty warlord was once just like any other ork—but if that is the case, how did he rise from a lowly lad to the biggest of bosses?

Great story, jarring pronoun lectures abound
Revisado: 09-21-23
Great story. I thoroughly enjoyed getting some specific background and character development on Ghazghkull after so many years spent as a "cardboard cut-out" archetype. This book went some distance to fill in that background, as well as to impress that Gork and Mork have direct agency in the Warhammer universe on a similar level as the rest of the Pantheon of powers (and the emperor). I really enjoyed the reveal that (SPOILER ALERT) there are effectively Grot "saints/eternals" in the same vein as humans. Neat.
I could have absolutely done without the completely unnecessary and frankly jarring didactic regarding gender and pronouns that this author (or publisher?) felt was a required component of conveying this story. The "they/them" change for referring to Orks being dropped in as an fait accompli retcon after 25+ years of "da boyz" was a needless distraction from an otherwise great story, and continually ejected me out of the narrative. I know why it was done, but it is so internally inconsistent with the world-building as to feel (pardon the pun) alien.

Historia
The fortress world of Regium has a proud history, For millennia, it has endured when others have fallen to ruin and damnation, standing defiant in defence of the Imperium of Man. But now it is shaken. Parasitic plagues run rampant, and Regium's citizens are haunted by dreams of horrific monsters feasting upon their flesh and marrow. Lieutenant Castamon of the Ultramarines recognises these signs of an impending Tyranid invasion all too well. Rallying his warriors, the battle-hardened veteran launches a strike force to slaughter the xenos in the outer system, before it can reach Regium.

NOPE. Narrator is unlistenable
Revisado: 07-09-23
Every single character is voiced as a weepy mess perpetually on the verge of tears. This is hours upon hours of vocal fry. Can’t listen. Great story, horrible presentation.

Historia
Like countless other kids, Phil Gaimon grew up dreaming of being a professional athlete. But unlike countless other kids, he actually pulled it off. After years of amateur races, hard training, living out of a suitcase, and never taking "no" for an answer, he finally achieved his goal and signed a contract to race professionally on one of the best teams in the world. Now, Gaimon pulls back the curtain on the WorldTour, cycling's highest level.

Great peek behind the curtain of life as a pro-athlete (sometimes)
Revisado: 03-08-18
Wry, witty, and at turns touching and occasionally infuriating. You’ll cheer when Phil’s dreams of joining the big show are realized, and you’ll feel like an audience-member at a horror movie shouting “don’t go in that dark basement alone!” when the realities of life on the pro-tour in the post-Doping era (if there is such a thing) rear their ugly heads. Best wishes and good luck on your worst retirement ever- I want a book about that next please!

Historia
The adventuring industry drives the economy of Arth, a world much like our own but with more magic and fewer vowels. Monsters' hoards are claimed, bought by corporate interests, and sold off to plunder funds long before the Heroes' Guild actually kills the beasts. Of course, that's a terrible arrangement for the Shadowkin; orcs, goblins, kobolds, and their ilk must apply for to become Noncombatant Paper Carriers (or NPCs) to avoid being killed and looted by heroes.

High Fantasy meets Economics- hilarity ensues
Revisado: 01-02-17
Would you listen to Orconomics: A Satire again? Why?
Yes, I absolutely would. I really enjoyed the Pratchett-like mash-up of high fantasy, personal story development, humor and meticulous world-building. Replay value will be high on this, as a) it is genuinely funny without being "comedy haha." b) The economics check out. Orconomics isn't just pithy titling- it's the underpinning and motivating force in this world (and in truth, in every world). c) Despite the fact that the characters are ostensibly D&D player characters rendered into literature, they all delightfully both display and break every trope in the book. They are also refreshingly multidimensional and unpredictable. I can't break down specifics about how and why without giving away major plot points you truly want to have unfold in proper order- so I'll just stop here and endorse with a much vaunted "5 out of 5 elephants."
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
made me laugh out loud numerous times. Had to set down the stuff I was doing while I was listening 'til I could continue.
Any additional comments?
As a card carrying fantasy nerd and classically trained economist, this book scratches multiple sweet spots for me. Bravo sirrah.
