Exceptional!
Revisado: 09-26-21
The author has clearly spent a long time studying, and portrays the lives of King Philip and Alexander the Great with great detail. I couldn't stop listening to this book until it had finished, and I enjoyed the way he compared them with Roman's, and made some modern references as well.

Historia
Tracing the extraordinary trajectory of Julius Caesar's life, Adrian Goldsworthy covers not only the great Roman emperor's accomplishments as charismatic orator, conquering general, and powerful dictator but also lesser-known chapters. Ultimately, Goldsworthy realizes the full complexity of Caesar's character and shows why his political and military leadership continues to resonate some 2,000 years later.

Historia
The Twelve Caesars was written based on the information of eyewitnesses and public records. It conveys a very accurate picture of court life in Rome and contains some of the raciest and most salacious material to be found in all of ancient literature. The writing is clear, simple and easy to understand, and the numerous anecdotes of juicy scandal, bitter court intrigue, and murderous brigandage easily hold their own against the most spirited content of today's tabloids.

Unbelievable!
Revisado: 08-11-21
I could not put this book down. The way the emperors lived sounded like fiction, with each generation being even more outlandish than the one before. It's hard to imagine how the Roman people put up with them for as long as they did. This book unintentionally provides insight as to why the Roman empire eventually failed by giving examples of the repulsive character and lack of statesmanship of the latter emperors. The narrator was perfect for this book. 10/10 would recommend

Great author, bad narrator
Revisado: 08-07-21
This book was difficult to put down, even with a narrator that mispronounced names and made some parts difficult to follow.

Historia
Julius Caesar has taken his legions north into mighty battles with the Gallic tribes. But as his successes mount, overwhelming ambition and new alliances begin to threaten his friendship with Marcus Brutus, brother-in-arms and fellow warrior. Although the conquest of Gaul has made Caesar a hero all over again, his victories on the battlefield cause still more rivalries at home. And ultimately Caesar and Brutus will have to choose whether to cross the Rubicon - together or singly - and to take the fight to Rome itself.

Great book, terrible narrator
Revisado: 08-05-21
The narrator made it difficult to listen to, I had to slow down the story and google "Aria Ristus" to get the name of Caesar's enemy in Gaul, and had to repeat the process a few times to try and get the correct names/places.
However, im a big fan of Iggulden, and I will be buying the next book in the Emperor series regardless of the same narrator.
