Liked it but didn’t love it.
Revisado: 04-18-25
I liked the idea, a bit repetitive although I couldn’t stop listening and couldn’t predict the ending which I quite liked. I just didn’t like the main character which is why I didn’t give it 5 stars. Narrator was good though!

Historia
It’s a beautiful day in Newport, Rhode Island, when Phoebe Stone arrives at the grand Cornwall Inn wearing a green dress and gold heels, not a bag in sight, alone. She's immediately mistaken by everyone in the lobby for one of the wedding people, but she’s actually the only guest at the Cornwall who isn’t here for the big event. Phoebe is here because she’s dreamed of coming for years—she hoped to shuck oysters and take sunset sails with her husband, only now she’s here without him, at rock bottom, and determined to have one last decadent splurge on herself.

Laugh out loud
Revisado: 12-21-24
Laugh out loud story tackling some pretty heavy topics, like suicide. Really enjoyed everything about this book. I love the authors poignant take on human beings and all their flaws. The narrator was perfect for this book!

Just meh
Revisado: 12-13-24
Almost didn’t finish. Writing felt so brash, like using the phrase “verbal masturbation” more than once.
I agree with the reader who said this book felt like it was too much fictionalization of such horrific events, it felt wrong to focus on the main characters obsession with having sex with her husbands brother than the story of the Jewish experience.

Don’t listen to other reviews
Revisado: 10-23-22
There was hardly any politics in this book- a line or two more for context of what time period the story is taking place at the given time- important for a book that involves time travel.
This book was so so good. It was a great book that kept you on the edge of your seat the whole time. I have never stayed up late or sat in my car after I had already parked to listen to an audible before this novel.
Highly recommend and don’t listen to other views upset about politics.

Historia
Meet Gemma Jacobs. She’s driven, energetic, and a positive thinker. She has a great career working for famed self-help guru Ian Fortune, she lives in a cute studio apartment in Manhattan, and her family is supportive and loving (albeit a little kooky). Her life is perfect. Except for one tiny little thing. After a decade of disastrous relationships and an infertility diagnosis, Gemma doesn’t want a Mr. Right (or even a Mr. Right Now); she just wants a baby. And all she needs is an egg, some sperm, and IVF. So Gemma makes a New Year’s resolution: Have a baby.

Fun story, bad narrator

Fun, light hearted, at times hysterical book.
Unfortunately ruined by the narrator. The narrator ended each sentences with a drawn out, over emphasized last syllable of every word of every sentence. So annoying!

Historia
When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she doesn't think it's love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Terrible plot, worse writing.
Revisado: 04-15-22
A complete 180 from the author’s other work, it ends with us.
The story line is childish and repetitive. It’s also very predictable. A predictable story is fine if it is well written. However, the writing too was childish and repetitive.
Definitely not a story that portrays a strong female character. The author doesn’t touch on how much will power and determination this character must have for working full time and going to school in a noble profession, only that she melts over some man and thinks she can change him with her vagina or if she waits around long enough.
