What was the narrator trying for? Scottish? English? American? This is the worst narration of any audiobook I've ever tried to listen to. Horrific. Unlistenable. Returned.

Absolutely superb narration, easy listening for a story. The only thing he doesn't nail is his America accents and there's not many of them.

All the running jokes are there, delivered as usual with dry wit and excellent timing. It gets a bit cheesy at times but that's allowed in finales I suppose. All told, nicely done.

Well written and lovely casting. Good sound engineering. The story just wasn't to my taste. If you like tragic but not dramatic historical pieces this will probably be just your cup of tea.

I heard this as a BBC rerun and loved it, especially Jamie Parker's Darcy (I'd fallen for him already in Far from the Madding Crowds). The rest of the cast is good; Mrs. Bennett appropriately obnoxious, Elizabeth appropriately dry, etc. They are not the best characterizations but that's what reading the actual book yourself is for.
I enjoyed the narrator because I thought she did well capturing Austen's tone of gentle derision, especially when it came to describing the actions of the Bennet household.
This is an abridged version despite what the title says but they get most of the story in.
I'm quite fond of P&P in nearly any format, and as I said already I love Parker's voice, but I have listened to this three or four times actively and will often put it on to fall asleep to and it still hasn't lost its charm. If you're an Austen fan or trust the BBC, I'd say you'll enjoy this.
As a side note, I much prefer this to Rosamund Pike's reading, and the Mansfield Park from the same BBC series is lovely (and features both Cumberbatch and Tennant).

Grew up reading these stories, so there's some nostalgia bias here, but these are truly wonderful "people stories" with lots of animal heart to boot. Christopher Timothy (who played Harriot in the BBC series) does a fabulous job reading and handles the accents well. When I can't sleep I put this on and smile as the antics of Tricki and Roy distract me into slumber. This particular recording is good quality, unlike a few of the others of the same series here on Audible, which sound tinny and soft. I've recommended these stories to lots of people over the years and never known anyone to be disappointed.
